socaldatsun
Hey I picked up some Nissan Frontier wheels for my 521. I don't know much about tires and how they fit, so i'm looking towards fellow ratsuner for some assistance. I would like something that looks apropiate but not too thick, just enough to fill in some wheel space. size 15x7.5 Here area few pictures of what I got now... I belive those are 14's I'll look in the morning to get the numbers. This is what I just picked up. any ideas? thanks in advance Quote Link to comment
blackdeth666
depends on the look you are going for. i would figure out what size tire you had on your old wheels. then figure out the diameter, google is good for this. then find something similar in diameter for your new wheel size. or go smaller if you want to lower it  if they were mine, i would probably go with 205/60-15 or if you like the stretched look, a 185 would look good too Quote Link to comment
blackdeth666
dig the color btw, my 521 is slowly turning orange! Quote Link to comment

Guest kamakazi620
Dont use 60 series too TALL only run 50 series on 15in rims 40 series for 16in rims and so on Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stock tire for the 521 was 6.00 X 14 The tires back then had an 80% aspect ratio so the tire is 6" wide and 4.8" tall or the total height is 4.8 x 2 = 9.6 + 14" rim = 23.6" tall This is the height you want on a 15" rim to keep your speedo and acceleration the same. 521 rims 6" = 152mm tire width Frontier rims 15" x 7.5" wide = 190mm 165/65R15 would be 6.5" wide which is 1/2" wider than the stock 521 tire. 23.44" tall 170/60R15 would be 6.69" wide 23.03" tall 170/65R15 would be 6.69" wide 23.70" tall 175/60R15 would be 6.89" wide 23.27" tall 180/60R15 would be 7.09" 32.50" tall 185/55R15 would be 7.28 23.01 185/60R15 would be 7.28" wide 23.74" tall 190/55R16 would be 7.48" wide which is close to the rim size of Frontier 7.5" width 23.23" tall 195/55R15 would be 7.68" wide which is close to the rim size of Frontier 7.5" width 23.44" tall Don't forget that the truck is used to a 6" (152mm) wide tire. A 7.5" wide tire is going to be 3/4" closer to the frame on the inside. I don't know what the rim off set for either is. The Frontier may have so much positive off set that no tire will fit without rubbing on turns. Dont use 60 series too TALL only run 50 series on 15in rims 40 series for 16in rims and so on Bullshit. Or did you mean somtin' else? A 265/50R15 tire is 25.43" tall A 160/60R15 is only 22.56" tall. This 60 series is shorter than the 50 series. 1 Quote Link to comment

RedBanner
Ok so im not no wheel expert but the way i learned tire sizes example 215-50-r13, the 215 is the width if the tire, the 50 is the height but its relitive to width, so a 185 50 is shorter than a 205 50, r13 is rim size Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
50 is the height of the rubber tire from the rim to the outside edge as a % of the tire width. So if the tire is 215(mm) then the height of a 50 series is 107mm or about 4.2" A 215/60R 13 would be about 5" tall A 215/70R13 is 5.9" tall All the same width but getting taller as the series number goes up. yello620
This is what I just picked up. any ideas? thanks in advance I ran that exact wheel for a while on my 620, they fit very nicely too. I was running them with 195/60/15 tires. Want a wider tire, 225/50/15 is pretty close in height. Quote Link to comment
