what sheel does my vg30dett deserve

hey guys, long story short, i love my 300zxtt. and when my fiance told me she wanted a 280z i couldn't resist, so now we have a 77 280z as well.

 

the feel and look of the 280z is amazing! so i have been thinking of something new for my vg30dett when its finished.

 

thoughts?

 

510 wagon sits highly on my list. as does an old skyline but i think they would be hard to find.

 

 

 

any other ideas?

The horde demands OICS!!!!!!

 

That VG30 would go nicely in the 280Z; but I wouldn't let a girl drive it after that.

 

Girls can't drive.

 

And if they can, they're not really girls; they're something more awesome. They're women who've had an appropriate upbringing.

if they can drive, and like working on cars, and are into guys, its the perfect woman, as well as being hot, you dont want to leave that out.

why do some of you say no to a 510, i know its a tight fight, but it has also been done as far as my searching has shown me.

 

the fiance is actually a pretty good driver! haha, but if she stays interested in the 280z when its closer to being done, it will be just a mild street car.

Is this a spare VG? Don't pull it from a perfectly good Z to transplant it. What is going to happen is you will end up with two broke ass cars in your lawn. If it's a spare, put it where ever you want. Make sure you've got plenty of ammo for the cash cannon though.

you're right its been done a couple times, both SOHC and DOHC TT VG's into a 510

 

it does fit, trans tunnel needs widening but other than that the firewall doesnt need to be recessed. pretty sure strut towers need work

 

its a serious conversion though, lots of welding and a bit of chopping. "different" wont be enough of a reason to pull you through it i reckon - thats just my arrogant assumption though :D

 

Z32's themselves arent overly common, quick ones even less so. everyone in that kinda crowd goes for other nissans or toyota for fast, their 6's are a lot easier to work with

 

if i had a z32 id try make it into something that made people wonder why there arent more 300zx's driving about :D low, very subtle body mods, clean, some large wheels with spot-on fitment, built engine and some more fast. i dunno if making it single turbo would be practical but if it is id go with something like that to try tidy the enginebay up cos its cluttered as from factory. maybe a nice shiny new intake manifold to replace the stock pair, and a slight bonnet hump to clear it all

 

sounds like work but when you think about converting it into a 510, its probably less work and the result will be killer :)

sorry for the -1 gary, my smart phone wasn't getting what i was trying to do.

 

 

i have a bronco 2 that i have modified a bit as well. and i love fabbing, chopping, and making things work. but i just can't see myself doing that to my 300zx shell either. guess maybe i'm just looking for another cool project.

 

my 300zx was decently fast. pulled a 12.1 on the 1/4 mile at 121. drove it there, then drove it home.

many of the ones over here have headgasket problems :( specially when theyre boosted up a bit so you hardly ever see any with work in em for fear of having to do anything to the engine, labour cost is ridiculous cos of their enginebay as im sure youd know :D

 

itd go pretty good in the 280, that'd be far easier to do a conversion to. the width might be tricky if its a TT but shouldnt be too hard to deal with in the zed. you'd have plenty space up front too for cool stuff like V mount i/c and radiator

 

or if youve got fitment problems you could go single and put the turbo up in front of the engine with some nice manifolds to suit
