atkinson40
I'm having a bear of a time getting the tranny to slip into position. It's in the vehicle. I imagine I'm not getting the front of the tranny shaft to go into the pilot. Any trick to doing this? Hair around the hole jokes appreciated, but don't think they'll be helpful. Quote Link to comment
Logical1
Sometimes the spline of the input shaft is not 'slipping' into the clutch disk because it slightly misaligned. I put the tranny in 4/5'th gear and turn the output shaft with my fingers until it finds sweet spot. I have tiny fingers though, most people cant get any grip on it so I have also used the drive line to turn the output shaft even if its only plugged into the tranny and not hooked up yet. Another thing to try is pushing your engine back and up (pushing on it from the front of the car) and blocking it like that so the entire engine is at a slight angle down toward where your pushing the tranny in from. Hope one of those work for you! Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
or have a friend slowly turn the crank while you slide the input shaft in. and make sure your going straight in and not binding the shaft Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You used an alignment tool to center the clutch disc? I have a couple of input shafts from trannys. Works like a bawsss. Quote Link to comment
