Ken_B
I have a set of slot mags I wan to run on my 521, Fronts are 14x5.5 Rears are 14x7. I want the truck to look sort of like this, wider fatter rears and smaller fronts. Im lost on tire sizes here so any input would be appreciated. Not the best pic but gives you a general idea, not quite so huge/wide in the rear as this though Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
what size are currently on your stock rims? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stockers are 6.00 X 14 6 ply front and 8 ply back. So your diameter is 23.65" and the new tire must be kept close to prevent speedo error. A 7" rim will easily fit a 7" to 8" tire so... Tire size............................ Width 180/65 R 14 (23 x 7.09 x 14) 7.09" (180mm)23.21" (589.60mm)-0.43" (-11.00mm) 180/70 R 14 (24 x 7.09 x 14) 7.09" (180mm)23.92" (607.60mm)+0.28" (+7.00mm) 185/65 R 14 (23 x 7.28 x 14) 7.28" (185mm)23.47" (596.10mm)-0.18" (-4.50mm) 190/65 R 14 (24 x 7.48 x 14) 7.48" (190mm)23.72" (602.60mm)+0.08" (+2.00mm) 195/60 R 14 (23 x 7.68 x 14) 7.68" (195mm)23.21" (589.60mm)-0.43" (-11.00mm) 195/65 R 14 (24 x 7.68 x 14) 7.68" (195mm)23.98" (609.10mm)+0.33" (+8.50mm) 200/60 R 14 (23 x 7.87 x 14 7.87" (200mm)23.45" (595.60mm)-0.20" (-5.00mm) 205/60 R 14 (24 x 8.07 x 14) 8.07" (205mm)23.69" (601.60mm)+0.04" (+1.00mm) Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
so going with what mike has said the 205/60 R 14 (24 x 8.07 x 14) 8.07" (205mm)23.69" (601.60mm)+0.04" (+1.00mm) would look great on the rear and 185/65 R 14 (23 x 7.28 x 14) 7.28" (185mm)23.47" (596.10mm)-0.18" (-4.50mm) would look great up front just enough difference to give it a mild big & little look yet not get speedo error Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Forgot the fronts, they are 5.5" wide so you could go 5 1/2" to 6" in the front which makes the rears look even bigger than they are. Didn't turn up any 5.5" tires. 160/75 R 14 (23 x 6.30 x 14) 6.30" (160mm)23.45" (595.60mm)-0.20" (-5.00mm) 160/80 R 14 (24 x 6.30 x 14) 6.30" (160mm)24.08" (611.60mm)+0.43" (+11.00mm) 165/75 R 14 (24 x 6.50 x 14) 6.50" (165mm)23.74" (603.10mm)+0.10" (+2.50mm) Quote Link to comment
Ken_B
Thanks for the info guys! Looks like I'll be buyin tires next weekend! Quote Link to comment
Ken_B
Ended up getting 175/70/14's for the front 205/70/14's for the rear. Speedo reads roughly 5 mph slow, nice to bring the rpms down a little on the highway. Heres some pics Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
looks sweet, nice choices Quote Link to comment

Radiant-Designer
Mike, how did you come up with those figures? I am looking to go with the disc brake kit and thus have to move up to 15" tires and was wondering what size I need. I have just purchased some 15X7 rims and I was told to get 205/70-R15 is that the best choice to stay close to the stock speedo settings? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
205 70 15 will likely be too tall. I'll likely forget this post while at work today so pm me and I'll send a link to a tire size calculator I have. It calculates a tire that is equivalant in size (so your speedo stays accurate) for changing even from 13" to 17' if you want. Works out speedo error, gives width, height of tires, all kinds of stuf.
