Skib
(S.978) In the latest attempt of Internet Censorship the US congress is making a bill that would make just streaming copyrighted material a felony. Whats that mean? that means anything from posting some Call of Duty game play to lip synching to your favourite song on youtube(ect) would be a felony.... and possibly land you 5 years in jail. Support Network Neutrality. http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/ten_strikes?akid=700.450896.5hVZPC&rd=1&t=1 http://www.thewrap.com/media/column-post/industry-unions-hail-senates-efforts-crack-down-illegal-streaming-28293 Quote Link to comment

justin 620
They have the time and resources to track and charge some 12 year old kid for mentioning a song, but not to catch the millions of pedophiles and child-porn dealers on the internet? Somebody has very mixed priorities. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Lots of stupid shit comes up and never has a chance of actually making it into law. Someone is just rattling your cage to get a rise. By all means keep your eyes open but don't get all wound up and indignant about it. If this particular outrage ever happened all you would have to do is get everyone to go on line and get arrested. 40 million extra people in jail would fuck this up real quick. Give me a break. Congress should be a fucking part time job with 0 benefits. That's the way it was designed, and used to be. But congress empowered themselves to empower themselves, to.... Now they can serve ONE term, and retire with FULL benefits and pay. Politics used to be a community service~ for the good of that community/state/etc. Now it's the most flagrant exhibition of self-serving greed in the world. Wouldn't it be nice if we really were a democracy~ instead of a republic??? Quote Link to comment
albyneau
damn right..... oops did I just commit a felony by reproducing something someone else typed?? oh shit..... :fu: Nope~ it was properly quoted and credited~ just like here^^^ Quote Link to comment
Skib
Nope~ it was properly quoted and credited~ just like here^^^ the new bill will make streaming any copy written material a felony without having written permission from the holder of the copy write. want to post up some video of your Call of Duty game play? youd have to write to trearch and get written consent to post it. want to post some video if you lip synching to that stupid "Poker Face" song youd have to write Lady Gaga a letter and get written consent to post it. other bills they are trying to pass are the Protect IP bill that quote: 'the authorities can legitimately seize any domain name they deem to be facilitating copyright infringement. All that’s required to do so is a preliminary order from the court. But that’s just the start, the bill in fact provides a broad range of censorship tools. In case a domain is not registered or controlled by a U.S. company, the authorities can also order search engines to remove the website from its search results, order ISPs to block the website, and order ad-networks and payment processors to stop providing services to the website in question." and Tenessee is trying to pass a bill that quote: "This bill makes it a delinquent act, punishable only by fine of $100 or 20 hours of community service, for a minor to frighten, intimidate or emotionally distress a person by communicating with or about that person, or transmitting or displaying an image, by electronic device, without legitimate purpose:(1) With the malicious intent to frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress; or (2) In a manner the minor knows, or reasonably should know, would frighten, intimidate or cause emotional distress to a similarly situated person of reasonable sensibilities." Rhapakatui
Must be a freakin liberal import. Less government is what Texas was founded on, AND why we CHOSE to join the United States. I think some people around here have forgotten about that whole thing where the people wanted to be left alone, and then this asshole decided to add a bunch of rules. We asked some neighboring states to help us get this douche out of office, but they left us hanging(hmm.. hmm.. New Mexico.. cough.. cough..), so we decided to be our own country. He didn't like that much, so he came up here to kick our asses. We called some kinfolks to come help out. We lost a major fight because we were out numbered, but that tied him up while we got some training in. Then we captured his ass and sent him back to the capitol in shame. 7th grade Texas history in a nutshell. 1st rule of Texas. DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS! That goes for Texas legislators as well. Skib
Less government is what Texas was founded on well your back up to one point  still got a long way to go tho Quote Link to comment
Spades
heh...it is all about the control boys and girls...soon enough censorship will be everywhere. The more special interest groups that form and the more freedoms lost for the sake of keeping everyone's self esteem intact(and stupid people alive), the more rights will be infringed. Hopefully before the world goes to hell in a hand basket, people will wake up and stop being so politically correct, and look at reality for what it is...people being selfish and stupid, and at some point the gene pool has to be thinned and stupidity needs checked. I don't care what country, race, religion, or creed you are from, at some point people have to stop being afraid of getting their feelings hurt, and people with millions of dollars can stop being greedy about the few dollars lost because some kid living in the projects downloaded a song of theirs. Note: The reason they don't go after chomos is because they have to put them in prison where they have to go to rehabilitation and be kept in solitary so no one kills them. This proposed plan is a money ticket, because politicians will get paid by special interest groups that stand to make money from it, and someone who ripped off some music or a video can be kept in GP.
