1lo620
So I got a question, what is the farthest youve driven in a stock L series powered datsun......and how did it go? Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
finding a stock l series is the hard part  but i think chester did 1000 miles on canby weekend Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
In a day about 1,000 miles in my 620. In 86 hours I drove over 2,800 miles home. I drove from Cranbrook BC to Vermillion Bay Ontario in one long shot. Also Courtenay BC past Medicine Hat Alberta. Never looked up the mileage. Could have done much better in a car that would have done the speed limit. If you mean total mileage without putting a wrench on the motor about 300,000 Kms 180,000 miles and blown h/g. truck was about 15 years old when I got it, don't know the mileage but the motor had definitely been out or replaced at on time. Jayden71
Back in 97 took my 72 620 from Baker, OR to Billings Montana and back. Round trip was about 1700 miles. Stock L16 did great, didn't once think about having any trouble. 2 days after I got home, I was on my way home from work when the rearend locked up on me and layed a pretty nice patch of rubber on the road. Had to redo the bearings. Glad that didn't happen 750 miles from home :D Quote Link to comment
wayno
I have drove from Vancouver wa. to Kissamee Florida, and then back a month and a half later, I drove to Los Angeles first(it was winter), then took a left, it took 3 1/2 days, driving 16+ hours a day. It was well over 3000 miles each way. The one problem I had was that the head had just been done less than a month before I left, and for some reason they had put brass seats in it, within the year I ran out of valve adjustment, that trip didn't help. I also started with a used fresh dogleg 5 speed(77-79 200SX) that made no noise, by the time I returned home 5th gear was howling. Quote Link to comment
1lo620
Ya I am thinking of doing a trip south to Phoenix Az...and I want to drive one of my 620s...And what I mean by a stock L series...is just that it is a stock engine, with a weber..no fancy cams, pistons etc.. and no KA, SR swaps.. I use to do it all the time back in the 90s when I drove my mazda all the time to mini trucks show down there. But the farthest I have drive the 620 is South Oregon...about 500 miles one way. And my truck is a stock, L18 with a weber and stock 5 spd. Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Drove my '72 620 to Pullman and back when I was about 19. That was a fun weekend 670 miles or so round trip. Quote Link to comment
blue72
I drove my Z with a stock L24 and stock SU carbs on a 1000 mile round trip. Never had a single mechanical concern. I did loose all external lighting except for the hazards at about 10,000 ft elevation with snow falling though (worn plastic rockers in combo switch caused a short). Quote Link to comment

hang_510
in the wagon in the garage, single longest trip was about 1800 miles through baja mexico w/a stock L20 (upgrades: weber & 5 spd) its ~300 mi to the mexico border from my house in the 68 wagon i had, we put over 3000 miles on the stock L16/4spd on a 2 week field trip across baja. not a single issue (we did have to all get out ~3 times to unstick it in soft dirt) the day after i got back, the front wheel bearing seized. this wagon also took 4 of us to ~15 dead shows in the late 80's/90's dont even ask for oics of it, none exist that i know of... Suspect
I've done several 1200 mile round trips in two different 620s. They were both stock, I mean bone stock... factory carb, points, etc. One was a L18 4 speed and the other was a L20b 5 speed. I also towed a complete 620 on a car dolly with the 5 speed truck about 1240 miles. I've never really had any issues with my 620s except when I'm running late for work. Quote Link to comment
qwik510
Drove my L20B powered 510 from Seattle, Washington to Washington, DC in 2007. 3100 miles in 4 1/2 days. It went well. Dogleg 5 speed helped but the stock seats were not very comfy. Quote Link to comment

H5WAGON
About 1300 from Eugene, Or to Phoenix, AZ in 1986......My first 510...a 2dr all stock.....packed with stuff....Family moved. The best part was I had no license, didn't pass the test, the week before in my dads full size Chevy truck, that I never drove in prior to the test...lol We took off a week later with no license.....car did good, except I lost the muffler after the little resonator in LA. Drove from LA to Phoenix with no muffler......:D Which also reminds me when I bought the car.....I took the bus over after school all alone bought it and drove it home...my mom didn't drive and my dad worked swing.....All I know is I wanted that car. Quote Link to comment
