Wide14u
i think you have to bypass the voltage regulator have you done that yet Quote Link to comment

nismo dr
you have to jump wires on the regulator plug, unplugging it won't do it. Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
some one make that into a link Quote Link to comment

yello620
Original poster, are you talking about using a G.M. one wire alternator? Have you done any research about those pieces of crap? Must not have if you are wondering why your headlights are dim at idle. They are crap. Quote Link to comment
jimmy dale
ok i have a flip video how do i post videos here or i can take snapshoots off it and post them but how? Quote Link to comment
kelowg
the one i got from z theropy, just ran batt cable directly to battery, another heavy ga wire to ground. using factory wire u need jumper wires on volt reg plug like shown on dime quarterly. but truck wiring is different. remember,it need right rpm to switch on the gm unit. something over 800rpm, if i remember right. vidalia
ok now the charge light stays on when the truck is off, and the temp gauge is hot..... Quote Link to comment
vidalia
ok got it had to ground the alternator to three things just for future reference: 6 wire regulator 620 red/white, blue/white wire together, yellow and white wire together, black wire has to be grounded to the battery. white wire with blk stripe unhooked. alternator: white wire/red stripe hooked to the back of alternator, alternator is grounded to frame and battery. it runs and charges no bogging down when lights and heater are turned on....... vidalia
pics: *The wire nuts are there for temporary purposes to make sure it all works* Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Sounds like your ground was non-existent, so make sure both the block and body are grounded. the alt is least of yo problems for poor ground, burning the wiring is worst case. 1 Neg battery cable to block 2 neg batttery wire to body, usually to horn bolt Quote Link to comment
jimmy dale
ok is it possible for alt to drain battery hooked up directly Quote Link to comment
jimmy dale
ok well the only thing not grounded is the winshield lol seems to be working fine will have to build a tightner keeps working belt lose and wont charge might try the turnbuckle idea but now i will be putting a slave cylinder on it only comes out half way and lost clutch hopeing i dont have to replace clutch yet or i will go with the 5 speed trans and rearend Quote Link to comment
