usmc210
just bought a 69 510 in amazing condition, however it runs not so well. I was wondering what to do with this specific engine to make it run smother. It wants to die while running until it gets warm, and still cuts out every little bit. Has an automatic. It has new spark plugs and wires and the car only has 737xx miles on it. Any help would be amazing. p.s. I did some searching around -Shawn the car after restoring the paint on the hood Quote Link to comment
izzo
Carb may need a rebuild. Try tuning it first, if you don't know how have someone that knows how do it. Plugs, wires, points etc may help too. as well as getting the vavles adjusted. Quote Link to comment

jun
It's nice to see a stock 510. I've thought about putting my wagon back to stock at times, hubcaps and all! Quote Link to comment
usmc210
got my haynes manuel, idk if i want to keep it stock . Going to work on it this weekend some. Noticed my air-pump/ emissions control device is not connected. Would that cause to the bad idle? Quote Link to comment
izzo
If there is a vacuum leak, maybe. One of the rubber nipples i put on my 720 intake popped off, it had a ruff idle too, till i gave it some gas. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
KEEP IT STOCK if truly stock you can get more $$$$ Once cut into I always pay less Is there a vaccum line to the trands to tell it to shift? Time it in gear first and see if that helps. People who own auto would know more like Datsunaholic Quote Link to comment
