Dirttrack510
Thanks, I found the problem with the L18, it's not a brite link chain and they left slop in the tight side when they installed it... Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
I do enjoy reading your build Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
Thanks, it's been an adventure so far. I just love this car. My girlfriend doesn't get it at all though. Lol Quote Link to comment

Dirttrack510
Gas mileage question... i'm only getting about 22 mpg with this L16 & my weber 32/36 and my automatic transmission. is that about right or is that low? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Possible with non optimum tuning of the weber. Also having a autotragic never helps. Until recently manual versions of cars have always gotten better gas mileage. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I'm doing some tuning, then i'll check it again. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
Just curious, what are you guys setting your rocker arm gap at? i'm at .12 and it sounds rattley with 10w30 oil, i usually run 20w50, but i switched for winter. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Hot or cold? I usually do a cold setting of .008 intake and .010 exhaust. They are not to be set the same. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I set em cold, they rattle when it warms up Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Well, do make sure to make the Intake tighter. I have heard many say they have better outcomes with setting hot, which then should be set to .010 for intake and .012 exhaust. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
I have better results when the engine is hot as a boiled chicken. With the right wrenches your usually done quickly, WELL , right after you lay your wrist across cam and burn it anyways.. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I edited my post... I accidentally said cold instead of hot... Quote Link to comment
Jester
I set mine at 8 and 10 hot. No problem with rattles and it revs nice. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I just set it warm, at .08 intake and .10 exhaust. It sounds nice and quiet now. Thanks guys. I bet my gas mileage will come up a little too now. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I just got these in the mail... I'm going to go the JDM clear side marker route for my lights. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I have those on my car. I cant find red bulbs for the back... Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I'm not really concerned with the bulb color. Yellow or clear is cool with me. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I just rechecked my fuel mileage ;) . After some carb tuning, valve adjustment and readjusting the points and timing a little I'm getting a solid 25 miles per gallon. I may be wrong, but I'm guessing that's about as good as it gets with an automatic trans and weber 32/36 carb. I'm pretty happy with that though. :D Quote Link to comment

Dirttrack510
what are those barrels for? I'm going to cut the reinforcement rings out of the sides of the barrels and re shape them to hand make my rear fender flares. Sometimes you have to use a lot of "vision" to do stuff. lol... My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts. it takes A LOT of little pie cuts :( and a whole lot of work :( :( to reshape the barrels, but I love steel flares. :D Quote Link to comment
Z chopper
her thinking you are nuts is one thing, when she knows that you are nuts that is when it gets interesting Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS SUCKS!!! I was on my way to work yesterday and their "rebuilt" transmission completely quit working after only 13,000 miles with no warning. Quote Link to comment
