patra_is_here
fucking shit i'm pissed. I didn't think the blades were that flimsy. now i gotta fix the radiator and upgrade to electric fans. i had to get that off my chest. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Wait, wat? I have never seen one flimsy enough to suck itself outwards into the radiator. Operator error? lulz... That sucks either way. I think that could be why theres a decent gap between the stock motor and rad. what you working with? Quote Link to comment
patra_is_here
decent gap? it's a 71 510 with a L16 and stock two row radiator. there's only about an inch if you're lucky. fucking blades gouged a deep groove in it and broke one of the rows. Quote Link to comment
Skib
I had my water pump shaft break and sent the fan strait threw my radiator  good times Quote Link to comment

Weird, thought there was a little more gap. You have the clutch fan or regular one? Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Common occurence with aluminum flex fans, fatigue failure near the hub. However, this sounds like your failure was a factory fan? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check your motor mounts aren't broken. This was while doing a burn out right? If the mount(s) are bad the motor WILL move forward on a hard clutch dump. BTDT Quote Link to comment
Blitz
lol happend to me too (but it was my Z....and I was side-swiped) but yeah, nice electric fan now... Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
been there done that. my Plymouth did that when the clutch died, and the Bimmer was like that when i got it. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Oh yeah, i noticed a nice round mark on my 720 when i pulled the radiator the other day  Quote Link to comment
HRH
Yeah, that's odd. I ran the stock plastic fan on a '69 non-clutch hub on the 510 for quite a while and never had any issues. Eventually swapped to electric for efficiency and improved engine clearance, but never had a stock one fail. Quote Link to comment
patra_is_here
motor mounts are intact. but I know the trans mount is crapped out. I think what happened is when I was backing in to the garage the exhaust caught a lip on the ground and pushed the motor forward. oh well. just another issue to push the project back further Quote Link to comment
