Roger
Will the lug nuts from a steel chrome wheel fit the OEM steel wheel of the 521? I dont know the make of the steel chrome wheel but it is recent aftermarket. Thanks:rolleyes: Quote Link to comment
darin620
just try them and see Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
It should. Look at the area where the lug nut meets the wheel. Should have a taper to it. If it does, it should also work on a stock wheel. One catch, they need to have the same thread. The 521 has a 7/16 stud and depending on what these other lug nuts come off of, may not work. wayno
Lug nuts are easy Roger, when you get your truck, take one of the lug nuts off your truck into the auto supply store and get what you need, chrome, anti-theft, ect. They sell everything in this country, I mean everything. wayno Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I even got chrome lug nuts in the tire section of Wilsonville Costco for my 521. All the body bolts on a 521 are American thread. So are the brake line fittings. The engine bolts are metric thread, and the taper pipe fittings on the engine are BSP thread. Quote Link to comment
oldskoolvws
I need gold acorns for mine. They'll match my new setup perfectly. Anyone know where to get them? Does anyone know exactly what the thread pitch is? I found this "72-Present 12 x 1.25". Is that accurate for the earlier models? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I believe the thread is a 7/16-20, for Datsun 521 lug nuts. The 620 trucks changed to metric bolts on the body, and brake lines. In 1972 Datsun switched from selling 521 trucks to selling 620 trucks. Quote Link to comment
Roger
Yes, it all sounds rather lame on my part, but here's the situation: The truck is in Medford Oregon and I am in Maryland. the truck has chrome replacement wheels, and I might be able to actually get the original OEM wheels from the person who once owned the truck and changed out the wheels. that was before the current owner bought it.They may still have them. They live in the same town as the people from whom I am buying the truck and they said they will go by their house and ask. I will swap my wheels for the old ones and I have to also remount the tires on the old wheels while in Oregon and then put them on the 521 for shipping. My shipper will not allow anything like cargo in the bed or cab. The lug nuts are the issue I want to avoid being surprised by. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
If you're talking the steel wagon-wheel type wheels, or just about any steel wheel (10-hole, etc) then the lug nuts will work fine on original stock steel wheels. It's when you get to aluminum or mag wheels that issues crop up. Quote Link to comment
