dude i would love to keep this car but i honestly don't know enough to do this. I really just want a car that is street worthy that i can enjoy now and not have to spend thousands of dollars and months and months to get this thing on the road.... idk i wish i could do this thing but i would really like a 510 that i can drive and over time upgrade... i would love to one day have a SR20 510 but like i said realistically i dont have the money or anywhere NEER the knowledge for one. Maybe after some Car building classes at my local community college i could even think of attempting this

sent you a PM. If you end up keeping the car (it looks like storage isnt a problem?) watch out for all the nickel and dime costs that add up.

Thats good advice, however reading only goes so far. Some people are not good mechanically, and if you only read and have no experience mistakes can happen.

mistakes always happen.

if your educating yourself youll know how to fix it, or who to go to for advice.

spend every free minute reading and learning,

and find a local ratsuner thats willing to hang out and shoot the shit and show you the ropes a bit.

then get back to reading

Im with skib on this one, projects can be a little over whelming sometimes but if you just keep trudging along then they get done. I have been doing a bunch of metal work on my 510 and before the project I had almost no sheetmetal experience but Im not afraid to fail so I dove in. The projects not done yet but the metal work is and it turned out pretty good. One thing you could do is slap the body back together just to get it drivable then just focus on the motor. Once your driving down the road you can go back anytime and do a full resto. Good luck either way

Belive me fr the last month I have been on this forum every day for hours reaserching everything that needs to be done an honestly I wish I could have the balls to get it done but I am not comfortable on doing $99 there is simple shot that I will read about for hours and still not have the balls to do. Idk I want a running car that is simple to work on and one that is compleatly drivable that I can fix when something brakes and learn how everything is put together that way. Honestly this thing overwhelmed me and insted of spending thousands of dallors I don't have to get this thing up and running I will be much happier and relaxed frying a car that I can drive and enjoy now. I would trade for a 510 or 240Z and start building the car I want from there. I wish I had that mechanical drive to get stuff done but I'm stupid at that I guess.

looks like your mind is made up hope you find what you're looking for. Just fyi it's been said but not in so many words and you'll need this for whatever old pile of Datsun you end up with. I have been workin on cars for 20 years now and I think something goes wrong or I do something stupid in about 25% of the operations I attempt things happen a lot of jobs are hard but driving old cars (and that's all I do) you are guaranteed problems and problems with your problems. Imo a sweet thing like your selling with minor finishing issues to have a brand new motor in a clean car like that will probably be better all around in the long run. Not trying to be discouraging just realistic and encouraging you to finish you're almost there. Whatever you do I hope in end you're glad you did it.

Oh and it seems at least in my case when you wrench these old things there will be blood. But it's always worth it.

I don't see it being that far away from being a Ratto machine. Get to Pick and Pull a few times a week and she will be cruising down the road. EFI sure is nice in a datto!
