Iv been taught by a well respected L head builder to just get good ones and ones that are to far gone (with a big wear dip in them) are just no good Link to comment

Someone can explain in more detail. Link to comment

My rockers are in pretty good shape....but I'll still roll them on some 2000 to remove the 'old wear' pattern Link to comment

The grit seems a little abrasive...but I guess that's relative to the condition of the rocker. Link to comment

datzenmike
Yes they are hard. Usually not much wear on them anyway. I've swapped them between heads and they work just fine. Yes they have the original cam pattern on them but microscopic. If you swap old rockers it isn't going to grind away the next cam surface and destroy it. Yes it will have to 'wear in' big deal. By all means polish them down (if in good shape) to get rid of the old pattern way.... cheaper than buying new, or likely old ones that were polished anyway. Save the money. The glass just gives a flat backing surface for the sand paper. Fuck if they are $20 each I'm a millionaire! Link to comment
