fisch
So this guy has been brought up before, but there is a guy in Vegas who is selling a hotrodded 1959 Datsun 1000. Black, says it has a Chevy engine in it. (I think it was mentioned that he was selling an NL320 too?) Now this car he is showing is actually in HI, and was just on Kyusha Kai's website. Here is the read deal in HI. Kyusha Kai Here is the Vegas CL ad. I looked at HI CL and there was no ad for the car. I guess the owner could be selling it in Vegas, but it is pretty far fetched. Craigs List Vegas 1959 I have actually written the guy to get more details about the car in Vegas, but never heard back. All I am saying is be careful... smells fishy. :D Link to comment
datzenmike
The Vegas one has matching rims....maybe 'borrowed' the oics. Link to comment

Datsun Bob
Fisch Thats the guy i was in touch with in Vegas for the NL Truck I believe my last comment was "Its a Gamble in Vegas " to deal with him .Story changed every time i talked to him . He says the cars and trucks he is selling are "Friends" vehicles and he adds a little to what they want and posts them on the internet for them . When he started to crop pictures to hide missing parts (Pictures i had seen before on other sites) and make statements like it runs great but i have never heard or seen it run i began to lose interest .Another fun fact i learned today on AOL news was that of the top ten neighborhoods for car theft Vegas has 3 in the top Ten !! Be careful indeed On a more positive note i have just about complied all the info needed to direct bolt in MG 1800 Motors into the 320s and 411 cars also how to use the 280Z/ ZX L series 5 speed trans or the VG30 5 speeds from the 300ZX behind these motors so as too avoid the now super expensive 210 A series 5 speeds . I am actually picking up a MG1800 motor in your neck of the woods near Worcester Ma to drop in my 320 Pickup with a Weber on it and still retain the original 4 speed column shift trans .Its all about matching the right series engine There are several MGB 1800 engines from 3 to 5 main bearings and several different series It comes down to matching the engine with backing plate and flywheel Some of the later MGB smog low compression 1800s have only 67 Horsepower so they are to be avoided !! BOB! Bob, we gotta have a thread about this! Will you make one? You have done a great service to the Datsun community with this bit of news! Link to comment
Datsun Bob
Fisch I will post the MG swap info in a separate thread ,I am working with a great source for MG information and parts in Delaware(40 years experience and hundreds of MGs parted out ) . He sells some of the components to the company that makes the River gate 5 speed conversions that use Datsun Transmissions so he is buying some of my Datsun Z parts to do conversions at his shop (Driveshafts ,Crossmembers, Shifters,). From my searching it seems the East coast is a hot spot for MG parts . Finally we catch a break from having everything being on the west coast ..! I want to actually prove what he has told me with my own hands in my own truck and take pictures and compile Motor numbers instead of just relying on hearsay and theory . I will be sure to put the info on Ratsun first !! Just to tease you with what i have found out so far most everything you have been thinking about can be done with the MG stuff in the old Datsuns by using the MG engines as a whole unit . I doubt i will be tearing engines down to compare internal parts interchange .The Datsun Head from the E1 1200 will physically bolt onto the MG B series engine but the compression would be WAY to high to run on the street requiring race fuel and from what i have learned the combustion chamber is not the best design for High Performance work as is . Racers use them in highly modified form . The only thing that may not work is the Moss Supercharger but only due to the clearance around the steering shaft on the early cars and trucks . The Cross flow head is a yes Positive !! It uses the original exhaust manifold on the drivers side so steering clearance is not a problem and gives the ability to run dual SUs or Two DCOE Webers and possibly Fuel injection . I do not know if any one has developed a Supercharger for that head yet . The head by its self boosts performance 25-35% so on a stock 95 Horsepower MG engine that would be 120 to 125 HP and great torque !! similar to what the Supercharger makes and the Distributor is in New York Another great piece of information is that there have been advances in gasket technology to cure the MGs biggest drawback leaking fluids . Maybe we can start to take back MG engines from the same guys that were the cause of all the 210s to be raped of their 5 speeds and left to be crushed or rust away in back yards . Link to comment
