macgyver
Rt, that does sound like the what a welded one would do. Either a r180 LSD ( hard to find) bolts rt in, I just found a r160lsd but also hard to find..... I'm sure someone might have something laying around for you...if your lucky. Good luck... zianian
BTW... Before tow... About 30 miles worth of bat out of hell freeway banshee like shit. 90 maybe 100mph sporadically tops. Karma? BTW II... Rear case cover used to be pretty nice clean n dry. Yesterday pretty damn greasy. Not drippy. Just not clean. But did have a stink to it. Hot oil/burning type stink when I ran it real hard. Local yocal Mechanic said it smelled fine. I thought it might have starved. But it seemed full up when I opened the case. 1 Quote Link to comment
510T
It is an R160 of some sort, an easy way to tell is to look at the rear cover. The mustache bar pad is one big area on an R180 and seperate on an R160. R180 for reference: Any moar pictures of the guts post-carnage? Quote Link to comment
zianian
Just this one of inside baba... Not much carnage either... if any... that I can see. I think the carnage is in that inner doohickey. And once I heard that racket (backing out in parking lot) I maybe drove another 50 yards slooooooly. That's it. Didn't give it time to carnigify properly ;) This is the outer case... I think. 510T
Can you get one from the other side of the ring gear? looking from the passenger side... I recommend an 04-05 Subaru STi CLSD rear end with the Beta stubs, the package will set you back around a G. Or you can try to find a Z31 R200 CLSD, also closing in on around a grand in my neck of the woods via craigslist. Or find any open R180 (early 80's 4x4 truck front diff, s12 200sx, S30 zcar) and get it welded up by a qualified metal melter. Or fit an open R200 and you can use LSD solutions for the 240sx ($$$) LSD is expensive for the good shizzz ;) Properly welded diffs are bulletproof but require extra care to drive on the street. 1 Quote Link to comment

zianian
So am I DatMo... So am I. (Not for the last week though.) That rear end stuff you see above. Turns out all that was was a $250 diff fluid change. Worst part is I paid for the fluid and added it myself. lol After I paid a dude $250 to put the rear diff back together again. I'm in love all over. She needs some of those rear squishy squashy rear mount thingies... I think. 2 Quote Link to comment

zianian
I believe it's an r160 vlsd Mac. And until I get a turbo and or blow the diff up for real it'll do... for now. I need them squisshy things. eBay seller is pissing me off. Sale said they ship in 2 business days. What they failed to state in the sale is FIRST they have to have the "warehouse" MAKE THEM. Then they ship... in maybe 2 days. F ing tards. Still waiting. recustomhitch.... YOU SUCK!!! Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
btw, what offset are those rims? Good question Dat. I'll have to look into that... might take a while. Measuring ain't my strong suit. Looks like Drag DR20s. If so, 15x7 +0. Quote Link to comment

zianian
Oh... If I remember I will ask the fellas about the offsets tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
zianian
To rear anti sway bar or not to rear anti sway bar? That is the question. Oh yeah... Offset. Forgot to ask in time. Twice. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
To rear anti sway bar or not to rear anti sway bar? 1. Does it have a problem with understeer? If yes, then probably. If no... 2. Do you want it to oversteer more? If yes, then definitely. ^_^ Quote Link to comment
zianian
I think I am an oversteer kind of guy. Thanks for the input Dfreak. An adjustable bar would be cool. I have to change out all the rear bushings sometime soon so it would be a good time to add it. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I think I am an oversteer kind of guy. Aren't we all... B) An adjustable bar would be cool. Don't know if anyone still makes one? Maybe Whiteline... You can dial it in a bit by changing the length of the end links too... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I'm a slight understeer guy myself. You don't wanna experience over steer at 120mph in a tightening bend..... Night night.. Quote Link to comment
