Believe it or not there are auto and standard starters but I've swapped lots and have had no problem. So assuming they all bolt up and work any L series will do. As a matter of fact I'm using a Maxima starter in my 620.

The Z series starter will work but it does not clear the dip stick. I did this and bent the tube back against the block for clearance. Naturally the L dipstick is a solid rod and would not pass around the bend, so I made one out of a Chevy flexible one. Just saying it will fit with mods.

I might add that there are gear reduction starters also. They turn the motor slightly slower but with more torque. These would be good for larger motors, ones with higher compression on in very cold climates.

The Maxima starter I have is for an L24E motor and is a gear reduction unit.
