It turns out that they exported a whole crap load to China.Then the Chinese started knocking them off( surprise).But they also built a .45 ACP Broomhandle. Thankfully, that shit didn't make it through the trials.... A quote from a firearms historian/specialist: "A buddy called me today saying he just bought a Lugar, and it shoots just fine. A Sergeant on the US Army Markmanship Team used to shoot "High Power" competition rounds with a converted '08 Luger in .45 Automatic and did well! Early '60s as I recall. The original "American Eagle" Luger used in very early trials was .30 Luger caliber, not to be confused with the .30 Mauser cartridge. Not .45 Colt Automatic. Quote Link to comment

The Chinese really liked the select fire mode Mauser Machine Pistol [Model 712?] and copied them extensively Parts kits from China used to be available less the receiver to comply with ATF rules. AMT [Arcadia Machine and Tools] used to provide a service of machining a compatible, but not with the select fire provisions, receiver and would even serial mark the receiver to match the serial number of your kit parts. AMT dubbed these as a Model 714. They even would convert the Mauser pistol in to a carbine model! Legally you cannot convert a rifle to a pistol, but converting a pistol into a rifle is legal. I'm not sure why they can't share but... bug out preparedness, I guess. I dedicated a few I had already to their own guns and started looking at the rest of the gun case. My 10/22, Auto-5, Coach gun, and CZ 527 are all in the 37" to 39" range but the shortest non-tactical bags (not covered in MOLLE webbing or mag pouches and shit) are over 40". I guess I'm going to have to suck it up and use those. Then there is my 34" lever action carbine (alas, no compass in the stock or a thing that tells time) which I feel ought to have a leather case to be "period correct." I can't find one of those... that I can afford. I think the "Boomstick" and "Snake Charmer" shotguns (26" and 28" respectively) are going to have to settle for those silicone impregnated sock things for transport. Maybe with a handle sewn on that'll be acceptable. Wait a minute! What's that guy on the jet-ski doing? HE'S COMING RIGHT AT US! TURN! TURN! Aw crap! Well, my boat just capsized and all those guns went to the bottom of the ocean. Um, good thing this is a... waterproof... floating... laptop? Yeah, we'll go with that. My local gun shop guy keeps trying to talk me into buying some full auto stuff as an investment....for the kids college fund. I'd carried it at work and wanted to repair some scratches... one thing lead to another and... yeah. I learned how to assemble AR's and swap parts on the pistols that interested me. When I was still a teen ager my Mother offered to buy one for me at the then price of $17 dollars. [bTW, this was at Macy's in the heart of New York City!] I refused! I said that I would rather miss Deer season than go out with that POS! Several monthe later I passed on a NYC Police Gatling .45-70 [used during the US Civil War draft riots, although the dealer thought this was a Navy Gatling. No water cooling fittings uncovered his mistakes] in favor of a Mexican M1905 Mauser 7 mmx57 rifle [not a 1938 carbine] and have not regretted the choice since. After all, can you hunt American Antelope with a Gatling gun? The 28 inch barrel on the M1905 makes a real difference on long distance shots! But since he only wnted $500 for the Gatling, I am not sure that I should have bought both! Ah, those were the days when a careful reading of the Gun column real collector publications were not a bunch of BS dealer ads and really offered insight on real antique firearms! 1 Quote Link to comment

So my girlfriend's sister is 22yo has a 3 year old and a 8month old, they live with the kids father and his family. Last week some one broke into the house so he buys a gun off of the street to "protect them selves". So the other day je leaves his gin on the table loaded and the 3 year old grabs it and takes it to her grandmother. Shit could have been way worse. They live in a 2 bedroom house with his 2 sisters and 3 ghetto ass children with absent fathers....I have alot more to say but shouldnt do to saying some shit that others might take offense to. My gf gets word of this and talks to her sister about it amd all she had to say was ok ill tell him not to leave it on the table Quote Link to comment
