Nice!

I have a good R180 LSD and trailing arm IRS that I was considering the possibility of swaping under it, but I think I may just stick with a live axle, 4 link setup for simplicity... dunno yet though.

RX7 GSL-SE axle. Rear disks, 4x114.3 lug pattern, LSD. Kinda hard to find, but not necessarily limited on parts. Morrisun used one in his 1200, and I think I have heard use in roadsters and wagons.

Hey Thanks!

I'll start searching...

would the later A10(510 with staraight axle fit?)

Love this 210!

Thanks!

I'm sure they would and the goons too, but they are pretty scarce around here... I have the only 510 I have ever seen around this area. I see them for sale on craigslist on a rare occasion, but they are always out of state or a several hour drive from me...

With the 210 down and back in the garage I am starting to get the "while I'm at it" syndrome and have been trying to piece together some BOOST!!!

Sooooo, I might as well put something under it that can handle a bit more power anyway...

very nice 210!

Best color, best body style 2-door sedan, best engine KA24DE.

2.25" exhaust will make more power than 2.5" on a stock KA24DE. The airflow is related to the size, 2.25" will allow the full 155 HP, while still making good power at lower RPMs. If the muffler is free-flowing it will have little backpressure. Although the larger exhaust will sound better! Depends on what you want, cool sound is certainly a worthwhile goal in of itself.

I'd go for stealth, fit 2.25 to a small stainless borla under the seat, then larger pipe to the biggest conventional (non-turbo) muffler you can fit in the back. This way you can get it as quiet as a new car with very little backpressure at the same time. Quieter than a new 240SX.

:cool:chop down the engine post mounts on the xmembr and fab some plates to craddle the egnine. as for the trans mount i used my stock one and worked off of that to know where to weld in the plates

You got it! That's pretty much how I did it...

Surprisingly, I STILL get several email / texts / calls about this build a month! I am more than willing to help anyone out that is wanting to do something like this, but please keep in mind that there is a fair amount of custom fabrication involved. If you can't run a cutoff wheel and a welder, and you don't have a good imagination, OR you can't afford to pay someone who can/does, please consider something else for your spare time. This is not rocket science and is not difficult by any means, but there are certain skills required that you must have or be willing to learn while tearing shit up and spending more $$$ along the way... :-)

Anywho, my wife is getting tired of looking at this thing on jack stands and in several pieces in the garage so I guess I better start working on it again... It took me several hours of beating the HELL out of the axles with a 5# slide hammer to get them out. I even had to resort to heat and lots of it to get the driver's side axle loose!!! I will buy another third member for now and just weld the spider gears up to get it back on the road... That should hold together alright as the spider gears is what gave on the last one (not surprised there...). They exploded into about 50 pieces and reeked havok on the rest of the gears too, so there will be no salvaging them now.

Sooooooo, if anyone has a good third member for a 1981 210 sedan for sale, please let me know!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!!!

Depends on the spline count on the axles, cant remember if they are the same as a wagon or like the trucks I am contacting a couple people about the lockers for the trucks (I have one in my KC and love it) I want to set up another gear set with a locker for future swap possiblities, I will let you know more after I hear back from them

Thanks Clayton. I hate to weld the spider gears and would rather have somethinf that would at least ratchet...

No problem, I will let you know more when I find out... let me know what the axle spline count is

So after installing the new diff., I noticed something strange... The driver's side rear now sits about 1" lower than it used to. I tried a couple of things like flipping the spings over ( a PO cut them...) and I even switched the springs, but nothing changed. Any thoughts on why this might be??? I wouldn't care too much except the tire is rubbing real bad with me in it...

Yes they do. The strange thing is that I am missing one, but it's missing on the passenger's side...

So I was digging around in a big pile of used springs I have that are from various Datsuns and other cars and found a set that looked like they might work for the 210. I took the stock pair off the rear and compared them a bit. The pair I found were almost exactly the same length, but were a little bigger diameter and had thicker spring "wire". I stuck them on just to see, aaaaaaand......... viola!!!

They worked perfect!!

A few pics...

The stockers are at the bottom...

Drives pretty good, but with no swaybars I rub the tires a LOT... I will weld some ends to the rear sway bar that came with the new diff and get it hooked up soon, but I am still looking for a front swaybar that will work with the KA oil pan... I may have to take one of the bigger ones I have and custom bend it to fit then re-temper it. We'll see. Hopefaully I can find something that is close enought to just modify the mounts and use...

Also, I'm picking these up and am considering fitting them on the 210...

I would need some wider rims though, but I think the tires would be fine depending on what rims I find...

What do you guys think???
