Suspect
I'm almost done with my 72 Datsun 620. It has a B210 Dogleg trans in it. I noticed that the shifter is a little short and has a bad angle. Is there any pickup length shifters that will work on this B210 trans? Maybe a later 620 5 Speed shifter? I also need the pin that holds the shifter in, I seemed to have lost mine. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
B-210 trans won't fit the 620. If it's a dogleg and the shifter is leaning to the pass seat then the tranny is out of an '80-'81 510. The 4 or 5 speed truck shifter would maybe longer, just put a bend in it. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Maybe get creative & bend your own shifter like D-mike mentioned. Quote Link to comment
Suspect
I honestly don't know what this trans is originally out of. It looks exactly like the 210 trans on ebay but the clutch fork is on the opposite side. The one on ebay was the correct trans for the MG Midged Rivergate 5 Speed Conversion. The shifter is upright like it is suppose to be, just short. I had to make a rear trans mount plate and space the cross member down to make the trans fit in my 620. The original 4 speed shifter out of this truck is completely different. It had a short tail shaft like this dogleg. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230536460896&viewitem=&category=33731 B-210 trans won't fit the 620. datzenmike
It's an L series dogleg alright. Probably from a 200sx or late 510. The shifter is just bent different and shortened. Quote Link to comment
mike
Just about any post 73 shifter will fit in that. z car, 720, 210, 610, 620, 810, 200sx... Ive got a z car shifter on the dogleg in my goon. Try a shifter out of a 720, thats what Ive got in the 78 and it fits well... youre going to have a hell of a time getting the rubber gasket for the floor over it though. For the shifter pin as a temp fix just stick a nut and bolt through the hole and put washers on the side. It will be sloppy forward and back but it will work to move the truck. The plastic bushings are still available from nissan and theyre not too expensive somebody probably has partnumbers or you could just call your local dealership and hope theyve got a partsguy whose cool. Somebody also made copper bushings from a door hinge pin repair kit. They had to drill out the center a bit IIRC... Quote Link to comment
Suspect
It looks like a regular 620 shifter after 74 will work, the shifter and trans is different in my 73 and 72 Quote Link to comment

The 610/ 710 and the later 510 (A10) used the A type shifter and it won't fit the dogleg. Later 720s won't either because the fulcrum point was moved. Quote Link to comment
