datsunfreak
I want to leave the blueing around the welds also... Then try not to sand it down. I'd maybe just wipe it down with acetone prior to clearcoat? Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Yeah I'm gonna look into it. I've seen where people couldn't get it to bond. Maybe I'l just wipe down with a protectant. Not sure. I'll probably clean it and wipe with WD40 for now. Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I wasn't sure my back window would clean up. Razor knife and some scrubbing and she looks good. I ordered a polishing kit to remove some small scratches and it will be tits. 2 Quote Link to comment

Josh K.
That's pretty sick :) Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I wish there was decent tires for 15x9 or 15x9.5 Nothing :( Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Yeah, the 15" wheel is starting to turn into the 13"/14" wheel for tire options. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
What tire size are you looking for? I feel like 15s are easy to find tires for still. They remain extremely common in racing divisions and in hot rodding. Quote Link to comment

That stuff inhibits rust pretty damn well it seems. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
I've found 235/50 and 225/45 in a variety of options, but that might be narrower than you are actually wanting. I don't actually know much a tire quality, but i found a variety of nitto and toyo proxes. And kumho ecsta in street tires. Hoosier makes a drag radial in 245/40 and 255/40. Maxxis makes a 245/40 Victra VR1 and RC1. Avon makes a cr500 and ZZS 245/40 in a street tire too. But since I don't know what you want from a tire, I have no idea how much use those might be. Here's some comparison shots of tire sizes on a 9 inch rim, as compared to a stock 510 setup. 225/45r15 235/45r15 245/40r15 255/40r15 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Or how about 275/50r15? Maybe a bit much... but Mickey Thompson makes a street legal version :) They would be about 1.25 inches taller in the sidewall than the other stuff. 275/50r15 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
245/40ZR15 is perfect. Now if I could find a 225/45ZR15 in the same brand... Fitting a 9" wide wheel upfront is not realistic... I really want this wheel for the back... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Or I could just run the Maxxis RC-1 on the street. The car will only see rain if it gets stuck in it... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I emailed Maxxis as they were supposed to launch a VR1 225-15 also... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Well that settles that. Just gotta wait a little while ;) Thank you for your request. We are planning to release a 225/45ZR15 in the VR-1 sometime in the first or second quarter of 2017. q-tip
Second quarter, damn, no tires till spring! Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Well I have a set of r rated tires already. I could swap them to the new wheels in the front until Maxxis releases the 225's... Atleast then I could run the 245's in back. I got a bunch of packages today. This one is pretty nice :) These wheels are calling my name.. 4 Quote Link to comment

that one guy
So this is super late, as always for me, but the Toyo r888 runs suuuper wide in the tread department. They're 225/45/15 fits on a j10 with surprisingly minimal stretch. They also offer a 235/50 for a bit more chunky profile. Hope this helps!! 1 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks. That's good info! Seems like a 205 on 8" front, 235 on 9" rear is the best setup for that tire. The 235 is kinda small diameter though. I'll dig into it. Got some goodies today. Like anything, nothing fits.... How in the hell are you supposed to use the horn? The steering shaft nut hits.... On to modification. Horns aren't needed in race cars (when did I decide to build a race car?). Modified.... That's better.. This wheel is my favorite part of the car :) Lot's of entry room now.. 4 Quote Link to comment
