Hi the rack is from a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and the little V shaped gearbox is part of it , works well for getting around the cross member.

There are picks of fabing up the rack mount on page six , I still have to make up the outer rod ends. Its so nice to get rid of that old steering box and all those rods and center links, idler arms etc .

Thanks for your interest

Your a damn artist! You're able to envision something before it exists. All these years and still going at it, you inspire me good sir. I was concerned about the looks of you not putting back windows on the stretched spot at first, but the giant ass rims take away from that spot and it looks great! I'll race you in my 720 when it's done ;)

The heavy piece on the right hand side on the bottom is to be drilled and tapped for the sway-bar mount later

Hi Wayno , there is no load on the frame , the rack is power ,like all new cars you can turn the steering wheel with one finger , all the load is on the rack bolted to the cross member .

It's nice to get rid of all that old messy crap & all those moving parts.

My issue is the power part is in the steering box/gear, so when I connected to the custom centerlink/draglink, it puts a lot of twist into the frame, I was only using the two lower mount bolts out of the 3, when I rebuilt the frame, I added metal for the 3rd mount hole, have not had issues since.

I forgot to look, did you use the Pathfinder tierods?

I was thinking about making a RHD 521, so I went to the wrecking yard a couple weekends ago and looked at that rack and V type gear, it looks like it will only work if I bolt it in upside down, which would likely be fine, but I heard that a ZX also has a PS rack that is in back of the wheels, that one might work better, I will have to find one of them to make that determination.

Update , modify motor mount to make room for the Alternator and mount the power steering reservoir . originally I was going to update the steering to power using a factory 720 power box, had it all installed and lowered in the chassis to make room for the oil pan , so I was going to mover the alternator drivers side and have the PS pump on the passenger side.

after swapping up to the Pathfinder rack that all changed. the power steering pump is fixed in place the belt will be adjusted by the alternator or a tensioner , going to swap the pulleys install a new belt and then decide which way to go , I am leaning toward a tensioner.

Hi worked on the Supercharger pulley setup , the first time I did it was quick and dirty, the truck was a daily driver , so installing the blower on a long weekend was already a big job , I still have to machine up some spacers to line up the belt, plus paint it ,I know this is kind of boring , but it's going to be more fun soon .............and Wayno I know what your saying about the belt with 4 pulleys, but the serpentine belts seem to grip better than the V belts, so hopefully it won't be a problem , I didn't have power steering before and that can have a load on it also.
