210's UNITE!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok just chatted with my mechanic. Nothing is wrong with the hoses but he has to take them off to get the a/c in and he wants to be prepared in case they break. I sent him the parts diagram so he could tell me which hoses. It was 54 and 55. He said he thinks he can get 54 cause it's just a L but 55 might pose a problem. I don't need anything yet but if one of you all knows if I can get one do let me know.

Part numbers are:

54) 27182-H8500

55) 27185-H9100

It the orig is not useable you might have to piece on together out of different hoses and sleeves. Not impossible, just might not be pretty. Luckily it will be in Stanley's insides and out of sight, kinda like your intestines B)

You can also bend one up out of metal tube and just connect it at each end with a length of rubber.

So far the hoses are fine. My mechanic just wants to see if they're available in case. Which I get. We are dealing with 36 year old parts. I may have found a couple of places that have NOS hoses. I'll be calling them tomorrow.

Not a bad idea Lockleaf. I'll definitely keep that in mind and let my mechanic know just in case.

Found the hoses at a couple different Nissan dealers out of state. Ordered this morning since they were so cheap. I have them just in case. Can't believe someone had them. It's like Christmas!

Oh I'm definitely keeping him for life. I'm sure he'll outlast me. I planned on buying an extra one but the other dealer didn't have it :( My mechanic will do what he can to salvage parts but you know. Stuff is old.

Man I'd dig A/C but don't want to molest er. So... I'll keep my sauna instead. Still awesome!

Question:

I'm currently dealing with getting the heater working. Do you know if the dash has to be removed for the entire heater assembly to be taken out for diagnosis?

I don’t think so. Maybe just the radio/gauge cluster has to be removed. I’ve taken the dash apart many times but right now I can’t remember if anything else has to be removed first. You may have to start with the glove box and work your way over.

What is your heater doing or not doing? i’d drain the coolant and remove & inspect just the heater control valve if it is accessible before removing parts of the dash. They are typically seized open or shut, and can cause a number of problems.

Radio, glove box, trim pieces, heater controls, ash tray then heater hoses and heater box should be able to come out. Probably plugged core or valve broke or not hooked up.

Heater control valve opened up nicely. No issue there. It's just to clean out debris like leafs.

I'd imagine it's too long an engine to fit without cutting firewall, etc. L16/L18/L20b do fit with minimal work I've seen. KA/SR do as well.

I sincerely hope not.   ^_^

As he said, it's about 8-10" too long to fit in the engine bay. Even an L16/L18/L20b is a bit of a squeeze.

Not a rebuttal...just sharing some cool possibilities. Old but, interesting. RB in a 120Y 4-door.

I would at this stage point out that an RB is shorter in length than an L28, and the engine bay of a B210 is longer than that of a B310.

But that is cool.   ^_^

Update: So now that the car is all apart and my mechanic is getting the a/c installed I stopped by the shop this morning to have a look and noticed that Stanley does in fact have the indicator area for the a/c. Who knew! My dumb ass didn't see it before. I'm going to have to source out the plug and bulb but just thought I'd let everyone know the discovery.

Not Stanley's radio cluster but this is the indicator and plug I'm talking about.

And my NOS heater hoses showed up last week. Didn't need them as Stanley's hoses were still good but these are nice to have as backup just in case.

Meanwhile, I may need to find vent hoses. Not sure yet. To be continued.......

Where did you get the long hose from?

It came from a dealer in Missouri. It is the last one in existence as far as I know.

Just to point it out. That B210 is a JDM  GX....longer hood and fender the radiator support is as big as a table...lots of room for just about any engine.

Only the PB210 would have a longer frontend to make room for the L14, otherwise there be no difference in body dimensions between jdm b210 and usdm b210s. Only pb210 vs b210 would have a chassis difference.

Um...but not all B210s in Japan are PBs.

Blanketed statement doesn't really cover all the bases on this one.

And you spelled genius wrong, genius.
