Siqx20
Check the base of the caps for leaking. My best guess is the cap is blown. Sometimes u can even smell it. Give it a sniff ;) lol Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
figured it out this morning! ended up being the bass adjuster blew apart on the inside and these two stupid little pieces of brass were shorting against the radio... weird as shit, but it works perfectly now, just don't have any bass adjustment, but I'm fine with that haha Quote Link to comment

PurePontiacKid
bushings update! got these poly bushings for free off a friend, spent all day yesterday putting them in, what a PITFA. these came in yesterday as well, ebay brand. my reasoning is I have to modify them to fit anyways, so why pay extra for a name brand set when the only difference is the color (which would be getting grinded off anyways lol) Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
sup camber plates also dropped my axles off for welding last night, should be done tonight I hope...? and then getting the subframe bushings turned and then I'm going to start assembling the whole subframe finally :D Quote Link to comment
ptown green
Dude this build is one of the most entertaining on this site! I check out every update. Keep it up dude. I love the ingenuity with all the parts you use from other cars. Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
longer rear studs to ease putting my rear wheels on (pitfa right now lol) final assembly has begun!! Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
put the new studs in and slid the rotors on, then went to put the calipers on, then ran into another obstacle: apparently the Z31 caliper sits too far out for the stock 280ZX rotor, but too far in for the Z31 rotor... ugh. hopefully going to go get the right brackets tomorrow Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
SO CLOSE SO EXCITE just need CV Boots (having trouble sourcing the correct outer boots (same as inner on S13) with the bumps on the inside...) Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
was super bored before work today so I decided to go out and roll my other spare fender: looks to have a slight pull, but I'm okay with that! no in progress pics because I didn't think about it :P basically all I did was sit the bulk of the fender on my saw horses, brace the lip against my knee (probably should use some padding) and tap away at the lip till it was rolled to my likings, and then tapped the very edge flush against the fender so as not to catch any rubber :B a hint is to tap the whole lip to a certain angle and work the whole thing closer and closer in multiple rounds of tapping. Madness
A buddy of mine would put seam sealer in after rolling fenders to fight rust. Dirt and sand get stuck, holds water, rusts away.... Then i realized you're in vegas... Nice work man. Can't wait to see that rear end go in! Quote Link to comment

Abe Froman
I WANTED the 280ZX rear control arms, ended up going with the '84 Maxima arms instead (same thing) only difference is the CV axle companion flanges, What is the difference in the flanges on the Maxima, they arent the same as the 280zx ? Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
sorry if I worded that oddly, the Maxima control arms are the same as 280ZX Turbo control arms the only difference between these and my stock control arms is the companion flange (Maxima/280ZXT both use CV axles, whereas NA 280ZX used half shafts with U-joints) Quote Link to comment
