Quick transmission question...

Alright, I found out I can't use a KA auto with my engine if I remove the ECU, so I need to figure something else out. I know that some people had bolted an L-Series transmission to a KA block using the Z (Z22E, Z22S, etc) bell housing... I was going to go that route, but like an idiot I didn't connect using a Z bellhousing with using the entire transmission...

Now, the KA is electronically controlled by the engine ECU... the L-Series auto transmission is hydraulically controlled. Does anyone know how the Z (NAPS-Z?) automatic transmission is controlled?

That NAPS-Z transmissions are the same transmission as a L-series (with different bellhousing), through at least '86. Later ones added overdrive and/or lockup torque converters, but still work.

The L3N71B came out in '82 so the '83s might have had the locking torque converters on the 720. The '84s did for sure.
