steve g
0ver 370,000 miles on my 720... engine is all factory including the headgasket and timing chain.... fram filters since its first oil change..nothing wrong at all with fram filters. Castrol 10/30 oil until about 200,000 miles.. was changed to 20/50 after that because the engine was considered "high mileage" Quote Link to comment
Enjride
Napa filters are wix, wix is the best, fram, pensoil, and champion spark bolts are a thing of the past, unless you want to spend alot of money on junk just before you sell the car. Quote Link to comment
JamesMoe
I agree that Fram Filters are THEE worst filters on the market! Never again will I buy a Fram! Here is something to look at if you still have your doubts.. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.lesabret.com/filters/fail1b.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.lesabret.com/filters/filter.html&usg=__MSwJcsii-mX_IjAPavnQDFCWgOI=&h=395&w=382&sz=113&hl=en&start=5&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=Bvi0OQfNlzUjOM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3DFram%2Bfilter%2Bfailure%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26tbs%3Disch:1 Quote Link to comment

There's no way you have 370,000 original miles without a replacement head gasket. And at 370k that engine would have so much blowby it's not even funny. Unless you're running it on propane and generating 27hp, then I might buy it. I especially don't buy it since that many miles on a timing chain would be a sure recipe for disaster. You do understand when the two halfs don't rotate at the same speed, the parts run into each other, right? Like when a 370k mile chain would break? Again, I know of two engine failures due to sucking fram filter elements through the oil passages. That's just in Spokane. I've heard many other stories I can't verify. FRAM sucks, period. Regardless you can still use a shit filter and make an engine run, it's just not going to be a happy engine. Quote Link to comment
