Will an L16 water pump fit on a L20b timing cover? Or will an L16 non-clutch fan fit on an L20b water pump?

1/ Yes.

 

2/ I don't think there were any non clutch fan L20B water pumps to put an L16 fan on.

yes there was my car is proof its an l20b with a u67 head and it does not have a fan clutch i think however it was a rare thing

and i was under the impression that most l and z series pumps interchange

yup. i put my L16 pump on the L20 thats going into my 73 620. direct bolt over.

Bonvo, you can put anything on there, but a '73 610 didn't have an L20B originally. A '73 610 had an L18, and a '74 had an L20B (which may have been clutchless, as most models went clutched in '75). I have a non-clutch water pump on my '78 620 with a '80 engine, but it wasn't by any means stock.

all L series pump will fit on the front cover wheither Z car , L16.18 24 26 L20 ect.

 

Its the track depth for the belt and soemtimes the pully the 4 bolts the spacing is differnt. So not all pulleys match up to the specific water pump.

 

 

 

I myself just order L16 Astugi brand water pumps if availible

L and Z series Z20/22/24 will swap too but the clutch and the fan blades are different/larger on the Z series. Also the internal pump cavity and impeller is larger.
