I just put my car on the ground after upgrading my struts to zx. I used the stock upper mount and installed bump stops, which sounds like what you’re going for. If I remember correctly my zx struts came of f an 83 model. If you like I can take some pics and measurements to compare with yours. Forgive me if I say this wrong, but it appears to have a little Neg camber (top of tire tilts into car). It also is way out of alignment after rebuilding the front end so that might have something to do with it. FYI, I have reconsidered using camber plates to get the extra travel. With the GC coil overs all the way down theirs not a lot of shock travel left.

Hmm... That's interesting. Sounds like you're pretty low. I'm not planning to lower mine that much. My main reason for the zx struts is brakes. My current plan is to use stock upper mount, springs and spring perch. I plan to weld the stock perch so that it's about 1.5" - 2" lower than stock. I'm also thinking of making some adjustable LCAs so that I can fine tune camber a little.

What inserts do you have? I think Mike K. used 300zx inserts when he lowered his wagon. They are a little shorter than the 280zx insert, so it might be in a better range of travel if you're pretty low. Of course you would have to shorten your housings to use them. Maybe Mike can confirm or correct this.

exactly what i will do if additional camber is desired.

the stock 'look' is what im trying to maintain too.

there are also those offset circles (the thingamajigz) mounted on the LCA arm at the x-member that are for small camber adjustments.

Its not as low as you might think. I have 15" wheels with a 60 series tire, and it still has about an inch between the tire and fender. from the bottom of the body seam right behind the the tire to the ground is 7 inches. this will end up being a DD so I might roll the coil overs up a little after I get some real world mile on it. I also have the stock struts and a set of aftermarket lowering springs for the front if you wont some spare parts, or a spring with better handling than stock ones. you can see how it sat be for the change, in my avatar pic.

imtb,

I did use the ZX master cylinder.
