thisisastickup
I'm going junkyard diving for the first time as soon as it stops raining, and a diff is one of the things on my list. how do I know if said diff has a LSD? what cars do both come on? if someone could point me to a link, that'd be sweet. EDIT: do I need the pumpkin as well? Edited August 28, 2009 by thisisastickup Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The R-160/180/200 whatever pretty much IS the pumpkin. LSD: Drain, remove rear cover and look. Foolproof. Both rear tires will turn in the same direction if LSD. Best ones are a clutch pack type. Less desirable are the viscus type. Worst ones are welded. Quote Link to comment
thisisastickup
OH, I know what an Lsd is and how it works, I was asking about what cars they come on. How can I tell if it's a clutch type or viscous? Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
...but in all seriousness... The space between the mustache bar bolts/studs and the diff cover bolts directly to the right and left of either bolt/stud is noticeably wider on the R180 than the R160. The R160 has two bosses where the bolts/studs attach, whereas the R180 has a solid singular boss that they both attach. R200 is noticeably more "round" or square than the R160 or R180. R160 LSD's usually have the sticker on the cover. R200 LSD's usually have a finned valve cover, but not always. No USDM datsun/nissan came with a long nose R180 LSD standard. R160 R180 R200 R200 LSD on the right (R160 on left): Quote Link to comment
