jovial_cynic
I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my 510, and the last thing I have to rule out is the carbs themselves. The engine is still backfiring out of the twin SU carbs, and I've confirmed the following: 1. Dashpot oil is full w/ 30wt oil 2. Cam timing is good (wedge/dash alignment is confirmed) 3. Ignition timing is good 4. Firing order is good 5. Fuel supply to carbs is good 6. Coil is good 7. Distributor is good So, before I go through the process of a complete carb teardown, I need to confirm that the carburetors themselves are the issue. If I throw on a known set of carbs (I'll settle for a stock L-series carb) and the backfiring is gone, I'll know that my carbs were the issue. If not... well, I suppose I might have to take the head off the engine and see if the problem is in the valves. Anyhow, if stock carb works out, I'll be glad to buy it off you so I at least have a running car. Quote Link to comment
