Loz
Yup, she sprung a leak! stopped at the services after cruising at about 50mph for 20kms. Water dripping from (seemingly) behind the pulley (water pump??) Not sure if its old cracked bottom hose or it is actually from behind the pull and not just running down and dripping there. Bugger... Something new every time out.. but that what you get with old cars... She got me home fine (37 bht for 6l of drinking water from 7/11) Only took a 2 litre top up. Next: Oil leak from around the (now unused) fuel pump. drips reach the manifold and get smelly. ANy know faults around this area that cause such a leak? Quote Link to comment
Bleach
Mechanical fuel pump seems to always leak. I've swapped on a couple new pairs of gaskets, tried light and heavy amounts of gasket dressing, and even double-checked the torque specs on those bolts. They just don't hold a seal too well. It should have 3 or 4 bolts i think instead of just two. If you're running an electric fuel pump then a block-off plate for the mechanical one might fix your problem. Quote Link to comment
Loz
Thanks, does that mean making a block off plate or is such a thing available? I've got fuel hose linking the out put and input nozzles on the pump. don't think the oils coming out through them, do you? Quote Link to comment

IIRC a SBC block off is very close... or make your own! just dont use a full tube of RTV  often the diaphragm on the stock pump is what leaks...gas and/or oil :cursing: Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
you sure it's not leaking out of the ball bearing deals on the sides of the fuel pump? Quote Link to comment
Loz
not sure at all. If it is.. can you suggest a cure? Quote Link to comment

(top) Had an L fuel pump that someone put a tiny dab of RTV on each side of the pivot pin. Seemed to work. Edited August 21, 2009 by datzenmike Quote Link to comment
