Loz
Funny u shoulda mentioned that.. Just been to the used wheel emporium that is also my tyre supplier. Was thinking 12000bht would get me a set of mags. Found out 3500bht will get me a set of 14" period mags in shiny shape! So rest assured they are on the list! maybe photos to follow soon... Cuts metal like mad
I drove my old 620 around a little lower for a while, it got old real fast having bad bump steer and bottoming out on small bumps... so I ended up raising it about 25mm above factory ride height. Ride quality was tits after that! This pic is with little 195/60-14 tires. Quote Link to comment
fo0manchu
got to have some good driving skills to be driving that low in thailand! Dodging a lot of potholes? Thats cheap for wheels, that's like $90 us dollars right? Quote Link to comment
Loz
Yeah, fupnny you mention that.. I did the same thing with my last pick up, at considerably greater expense! standard was dull... So I went Low.... on pimped rims got tired of bent rims from pot holes.. and...Bob's your uncle! Quote Link to comment
Loz
Now wondering what rims would suit fat rubber on my 620... But I do like the low look better and I have the Benz for when comfort is required more than slammed buster style. Any pics of standard but raised 620s on big wheels appreciated. Cuts metal like mad
Hows this suit you? :D Quote Link to comment
Loz
That rocks!!! that could change my whole damn focus!!! Bugger... I forgot about the drivability issues. Took the official test run, 90 km of highway and found it requires a very steady hand! Tall and brutish does look good. reminds me of my bobtail range rover and my Short Series 3 Landy... Cuts metal like mad
you don't NEED a 620 bed... flatbed... Quote Link to comment
Bleach
since you lowered it, your toe has probably changed drastically. That could be causing your hanlding issues at highway speed. Alignment. Quote Link to comment
Loz
Had the alignment done two days ago. its better. But it still chirps on the cement road and has some bump steer! er. alot of bump steer! Big fat rubber on old school rims, jacked 4 inches over standard might just be a look I could settle with... and a driving experience I could learn to love.... :? Quote Link to comment
Loz
...buuuuuuuuuutt.. I still find this awfully inspiring! Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
Also realize, when you lift it you get negative camber in the front just as lowering... mine wasn't enough to cause this, so I don't know if bump steer is an issue when lifting. Quote Link to comment
Loz
When I did it with my Hilux TIger, the handling could not have been better! I reckon... like a total cock!... that I will wind up going high with nobblies... But enjoying the low right now. Quote Link to comment
Bleach
...buuuuuuuuuutt.. I still find this awfully inspiring! see, that truck handled fine. I took out the bump stops and put in shorter shocks. I think maybe your're bottoming out on something which causes a sudden jerk upwards in the frame. It could be the cause of this "bumpsteer" I also did my own alignment. Probably not precise, but ... good enough! Quote Link to comment
Loz
Dreaming about this now...But in Orange and black. or Black and jap anime cartoon graphics... oh dear.... Quote Link to comment
Suspect
I drove my 74 on the bump stops by unhooking the torshen ( i know i spelled it wrong) bars. It was a stiff and bumpy ride but it drove good. I eventually end up wearing out the bump stops, and hooked the torshen bars up. Now its low and rides a lot better. Quote Link to comment
