Mikuni Carb tuning help

Recommended Posts

I screwed the idle screws/valves all the way to the right and then did a quarter turn to the left ( unscrewing ) hoping to re-tune the carbs.....well i failed and now have big 1969 datsun 510 paperweight......i sat there for like 2 hours trying to get it to kick over..... so how many turns to the left ( unscrewing ) on the idle screw is idling? thanks for helping me through my fail.......:D

What you have performed is simply a baseline or 'bench' setting. It should be about 2 turns, not 1/2 turn.

But even that will not be right. Once you get it running and fully warmed up, adjust each mixture screw for fastest idle. Keep turning the idle screw down, and adjust the mixture until it is right on.

1.5 turns out SHOULD get you started, but it will depend on your pump and idle jet size too. Has the car run before with this carb set up? PM me if you want some more guidelines if you are having trouble.

thanks im going to try it out now ill post back up when/if i get it started! Thanks a ton guys hope it works!!! :D:thumbsup:
