g-mam
How hard is it to get the Alternator off my 620? I have to replace it. New one here tomorrow. Any secrets/special tools to make it easier, or pretty cut and dry? I'm going to put a new belt on while I'm at it. Edited August 6, 2009 by g-mam Quote Link to comment
izzo
 unbolt it, pull the wires. To install; put the wires on, put bolts back on and finito... Quote Link to comment
g-mam
I can see the top bolt on the adjustment arm, is the other easier to get to from under the vehicle? I always ask first, because sometimes the simple things will bite you in the ass. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The FRONT lower alternator bolt can be gotten from either top or bottom- easier to reinstall from the bottom as you can see it. Rear one pretty much from top, though you can install it blind from the bottom. Problem is there's several types of alternator mounts- some are threaded, some have straight holes that require a bolt and nut on the rear mount. Oh, and life is much easier if you REMOVE the battery first. More room to work. Quote Link to comment

izzo
Good deal man should be simple enough, my first alternator i wired in was in a 77 honda accord CVCC. Went to napa auto, bought an alternator. Looked different but was the same size, different connectors on it. They swore that was the one for it. Well i hooked it up how i thought it went, and it ran fine and kept a charge. About 4 hours into a drive the harness went up in smoke. Guess i wired it wrong :D Quote Link to comment
g-mam
Took me more time to figure out how to get it past the oil filter than actually changing it :D I think I may have the new belt too tight. Will check it again tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
