6-speed Nissan

Hello, I like my 521 so well that I am thinking of buying a Frontier with a 6-speed transmission. I cant find any info. on the 6-speed as far as gear ratios. Does anyone have any expierence with the 6-speed? thanks

2nd = 2.52

3rd = 1.74

4th = 1.28

5th = 1.00

6th = 0.77

That's a high and to me pointless 6th. There are t5s with lower 5ths lol.

yup, the gears are closer together and you have more of them. Likewise, you would generally run a taller rear gear and larger tires.

I'd just put the 521 on the frontier and call it good.

Wait, wait.... Is the 6 speed bolted to a KA?

I'd assume vq40de. There is no bolt on 6 speed that I know of for the ka.

Well the trusty tremec t56 have been adapted to sooooo many engines already. It's what I plan to use for my L series. Could always jump on that band wagon :-).

 

I bet there is a bolt on solution too, I found one for the L and don't the K and L fit just off axis a bit?

The 6 speed uses a 3 piece housing where as the 5 speed uses a 2 piece. Beyond that the newer sr's from the s15, 180sx yada yada have a different bolt pattern.

 

It not bolting up isn't the only issue, the silvia 6 speed is notoriously weak. If that wasn't the case I imagine they would be selling adapters like hot cakes, just like they sell every other bolt on off the shelf mod under the sun.
