datzenmike
The gas problem is fixable without removing the engine. Fix this first and see how it runs then. The gas could dilute your oil and make it easier to get past the rings. Fix gas problem then have a look. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Yes, like most factory turbos it can run slightly higher boosts for short times. An inter cooler would not hurt either. The Z series also came in 2.0 2.2 and 2.4 liters here. 1 Quote Link to comment
JustRight
I can only find one person selling factory color engine paint at 30 bucks a can. Old Chrysler blue engine paint is actually a blue-green at a darker level. I believe this may work fairly well for non-purists. Has anyone tried this color? Quote Link to comment

Rhapakatui
Datsunfreak, Did you get a picture under the hood of the grey '69 2000 roadster at the show Sunday? I think it may have had the Chrylser blue. I noticed the paint on the block wasn't quite the right color. At the time I didn't think much about it. Meanwhile here's a pic of the goon that one of the photographers got this weekend. Quote Link to comment
JustRight
Actually, I made a mistake. The color is called Chrysler green part #DE1619. I ordered a six pack from Amazon. I think it may just look OK as long as all the colored peices are painted. I'm going to pull the engine and trans to do a really good clean up and check everything over. It's so small, I just can't resist. Finding a set factory z wheels and a factory type, rebuildable fuel pump is proving to be quite the challenge. But, that's part of the fun of reviving old cars. Man, I probably shouldn't even say anything, but I just cut up a good functioning one for the sake of a trophy. I would've traded for an aftermarket one to cut up had I known you were looking. It was my only spare. Quote Link to comment
JustRight
Man, I probably shouldn't even say anything, but I just cut up a good functioning one for the sake of a trophy. I would've traded for an aftermarket one to cut up had I known you were looking. It was my only spare. It happens. Thanks for the thought anyway. I hope you folks don't mind my sharing my excitement. Last night I found my factory Z wheels. Three hours into a new Craigslist posting at a town 45 minutes away. They are a nice set of 6 spoke with really nice tires on them. I had to buy the whole car to get them, but the guy gave me a fantastic deal because the engine and transmission were missing. This works out even better because I understand the rear disc brake assemby will swap over into the 710. Plus, it will be nice to have an extra master cyl/ w booster and other small parts. I remember seeing a thread on interchangeable parts, but don't recall where it was. It's almost a shame to part it out because it has a good t-top body with a title, but I need the parts more than the car. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Must be an '80-'81 S110 (200sx)? Quote Link to comment
INDY510
with factory 6 spoke wheels, and t-tops, I would say it's a 280zx. This guy was selling brackets to put 280zx brakes on a H-165: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/63324-h165-rear-disk-brake-brackets/ The front struts, and transmission, are the only other parts you "should" use. i.e. DO NOT put the motor in a 710!!! Here's that inter-change-ability thread: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29302-interchangeable-parts/ Quote Link to comment

Here's that inter-change-ability thread: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29302-interchangeable-parts/ You're exactly right, it's an 81 280zx with 82 wheels. Thanks for the links. These car specialty forums are a godsend for projects like this. Thanks again. P.S. My 710 has a strong, low mileage (81,000) engine. I wouldn't even be tempted to swap it to something different. Though, I did see an interesting, wicked little LS motor 710 that must be one scary ride. Quote Link to comment

Here's that inter-change-ability thread: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29302-interchangeable-parts/ Ah well, didn't see the T top and spokes. The '80-'81 S110 axles/rotors/calipers are totally inter changeable to the 710. The zx calipers will only fit with some sort of adapter. In addition the zx used parking brake cables and not the 710 parking brake linkages. They might work if the adapter mounts the caliper in the same position where the 710 linkage reaches. JustRight
Question------is the 710 auto shift handle the same as a late 70's 280 shift handle? I found a NOS handle at a z store but would like to be sure before ordering. It looks the same by picture. Quote Link to comment
