Rubberman
Will powdercoating a header hold up to the heat? I know in the past I've painted headers with high temp paint, but it always seems to burn off and rust up. Suggestions? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Farmer
Most powder coating companies only heat up to 300-350. Headers run way hotter than that. So probably burn off too. Larry Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
you want it ceramic coated about 100-150 $ heres one done. cost more then the header itsself. this header is used for show as they are a little bit of a loose fit and never ran one myself. Others have said they are OK ,others say they could leak. I got mine from Dave Turner Motorsport but TOP END PERFORMANCE sells them. they have a cheap paint job. everybody wished they had them coated after the fact, when they start geting surface rust on them. here is where I got mine done in Auburn ,Wa I did front covers and oil pans also. best to leave the dizzy mount and water port also so they can get coated at the same time as they go by psc and size. http://www.performancecoatings.com/index2.html Edited April 10, 2009 by banzai510(hainz) Quote Link to comment

Rubberman
I'll have to look into who might do ceramic coating near me here in Tenn. Quote Link to comment
zetozeto99
I think most serious companies that do powder coating dabble with ceramic coating.. otherwise look in the back of any various car mag and there should be tons of companies offering this service. Quote Link to comment
jrock4224
i work at a powder coating place and have powdercoated a few headers of my own for experiments with high heat and they eventually failed. i agree go with ceramic coating, i will be doing this one day but for right now i am not but i do offer lots of other powdercoating options for everything else datsun realted ......and can answer most any paint of powder related questions if you ever have any. thanks jon http://www.ctspecialties.com Quote Link to comment

Larry powder is cured at 400 for 25-30 mns fuill cure still not hot enough for a header. anyone who gets theres cured at 300-350 is runnin undercured powder that will fail and flake off due to under liquification making it brittle and subject to heavy chippin Quote Link to comment
