What electronic ignition kits are available for j13?
-
You should post in the 520 or 521 forum so you get more exposure to your questions... https://ratsun.net/forum/10-trucks/
There was no electronic ignitions (EI) on the J13 just points. The J series was used in other countries like Mexico and Central America maybe South America possibly in the late 70s. Have a look at the https://pertronix.com/electronic-ignition-conversions?year=1969&make=Nissan / DATSUN&model=521 Truck&cylinder=4#auto
You only need something cheap that gets rid of the points, no need to spend a lot of money on a new coil when the old one id fine.

Could you tell me what options I have to find a tachometer for a 1979 620
-
I would start a want ad here... https://ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-datsun-parts/ ... There are some after market ones that can be made to fit the hole in the 620 dash.. and they don't look half bad. Start a post in the 620 forum asking what tachs people were using. I'm sure that this has been discussed before but no harm doing an up date on it.

I have a question to ask about my 620 I put everything on the outside of my engine I don't know what to do it will miss one minute and then start running right the engine has a whining noise just wandering if you might have any ideas what my problem might be.
-
Whine? L series don't usually whine. Maybe the fan belt. There are spray on belt dressings you could try. I've rubbed a hard bar of soap on the belt sides while idling (very dangerous) to do the same thing.
What oil are you using? brand and viscosity? When changed last?
Pull the plugs and examine them. Dry black soot? wet and oily? Tan/light brown? Are any bright white porcelain?

On the hunt for a FS5W71B transmission front cover plate suitable for the 56 mm front counter-shaft bearing.
Not too optimistic after querying several junkyards in Santa Fé and Albuquerque. Seems that these vehicles and their parts have been scrapped already. I figured as much.

Did you try our Classifieds????? https://ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-datsun-parts/ Lots of people have parts laying around that don't read the 720 forum. Or status upgrades.....

I tried to put a Z24 carburetor on an L20B intake and the two bolt holes on the left side of the Z24 carburetor were wider apart. Now maybe the Z22 are the same as the Z24 but better check this.
AS for jetting, don't know, but you have the Z24 jets you can swap in?.

I'm thinking of incorporating a heat shield on my build. It's an L20B, and now has a Cannon intake with dual Webers. Just resourcing a smaller diameter b/booster for better fitment, air filter clearance is the issue here. Any ideas regarding which heat shield to use with said configuration?

The intake assembly manifold is for a KA24 12 Valve head. I have a couple spare of those heads that will work on a Z24 block too.
I couldn't figure out how to edit the original ad to add this info.

Just don't know if pump supposed to work continuously or not. Special relay, 6 connectors, also hooked to fuel pressure and alternator output. More of a safety feature. First one probably died because truck sat in yard for a few years then in shop while I worked on it, probably original equipment on 290,000 km vehicle. Second on a mystery all wires grounds etc., redone. Like you said maybe you get a bad new one. Going to double check fuse values tomorrow didn't change anything but don't think I checked them all for rating either.
-
Pump starts with key ON which sets the relay timer. If you don't start engine within this time (maybe 20 sec???) it shuts off pump. Starter input also resets the timer. Once engine started, alternator output and oil pressure light off will keep pump going continuously. If alternator charge light or oil pressure light comes on, relay timer counts down and pump shuts off. I think this is how it works.
Pump will start off pumping fast to build pressure then slows and may stop, but will continue because of the return line. Pressure will drop, pump will replace.

Anyone know the part number for Solid State Volt Reg for a 77 620?
-
That's easy.... there is none. All Datsun external voltage regulators were mechanical.
Just go to NAPA or your favorite auto parts store and ask for one. There were some after market ones, pricy and not always reliable.

Whats with Datzenmike's display picture? Been here for years and I've never questioned it until now haha

It's been about 12 years? Don't remember if NWDE had avatars. Hmmm I just liked it for those incredible brown eyes, Mona Lisa smile and the almost elf like ear showing and 'tried it on' and then couldn't be bothered changing it to something else, then she became like an old comfortable pair of shoes. I get older but she stays the same. Speaking of age, my profile shows I'm just over 20, so more to the point... what with that???
