Just looking back on some stuff here, its a crying shame how many image links broke 😭

I know. Ratsun must have restored a backup at some point because I went through every image and hosted/linked to a domain. I even pay $75/yr to host the images yet they're all broken now. That's why I stay on Instagram.

I've been following you on IG for a while now (I'm vg69datsun510) and this car is the absolute pinnacle of insane engineering and development.  Crazy high quality work, keep it up man!

    Thank you!!

Finally read this entire impressive build. The hours it took to read (+oics) has saved me a bunch!!!

I will source a stock flywheel/clutch for my KA build.

  4. Took her in for a dyno tune today!! It was tuned on a DynoDynamics which is a load based and not inertia. This means he could hold the rpm and tune up and down the load scale. Pretty killer!! It was scary as hell as I was waiting for it to blow up 🤣😂

The RE71R's were waaaay too soft and heated up instantly and started melting... Had to run home and put on the R1R's so she could make it through the session.

It was boosting at around 12-13psi but starting falling off over 5,000RPM's and settled at 10psi. The tuner said he could make it hold but since the intake air temps were climbing that told me the turbo was out of it's efficiency range and was blowing hot air.

So we settled at 252whp/260ftlb. This dyno is nicknamed "the heartbreaker" cause it's the dyno that always puts out the lowest numbers. The tuner recommends multiplying by 1.18 to get corrected numbers for a DynoJet which is the most common in the states. That would mean 300whp...

Here's the chart. It comes on hot and heavy and holds all the way 🤪 Let's see your SR lay down a torque graph like that...

Anyone have a broken SR20 rwd 5spd tranny we can steel a 5th/reverse selector fork out of?  Or a complete tranny for that matter?  We are currently weighing our options...

I'm bring back Jeff's spare tranny tomorrow. It ain't the best but should have some good parts.

  6. I'll go ahead and post some updates for those who don't follow me on Instagram.

I got the car back and immediately installed the rear driveshafts from @DADZSUN

    IMG_20190331_130933.jpg

Then I set out to fix my drive line angles and make new motor mounts. I decided to use the stock 510 mounts and just cut the perches off the stock cross member and cut/weld on the JBC cross member.

    IMG_20190421_201516.jpg

And then my driveline angles were whacked so I had to raise the back of the tranny 1"+

    IMG_20190418_142041_480.jpg

I then bought a Energy Suspension Poly mount for the tranny and remade the tranny mount

    IMG_20190418_195631_771.jpg

After that was resolved I made a pulley adapter and mounted the pulley driven vacuum pump setup and used the Vibrant slash pipe to vent the catch can...

I'm pulling the vacuum from the factory location in the side of the timing chain cover.

And dumping to the catch can

And then out the slash pipe

Haven't gotten to the transmission tunnel so it's cardboard for now 😂🤣

  7. I agree the hard to get rare parts shouldn't be re-popped. Focus on stuff like dash pads, windows and stuff we can't readily buy anymore. Let the unobtainable stuff stay that way. If not you just dilute the value of everything and it's just another gimmicky fanboi club which the 510 world is quickly turning into to, much like the 240sx did.

I have no need for a sonic grille or coupe tails and if I did I would seek out original pieces. I do however love my center garnish and would be sad to see cheap repops showing up on cars. If you want one go save your money and hunt one down. That's my opinion.

  8. Unless you're boosted there's no need. Just do what Mike said and run the stock system. If you have a motor that wasn't boosted from the factory you have to deal with this problem as the stock system can't deal with positive pressure in the intake from the turbo. For my car I'm running a pulley driven vacuum pump and dumping to a catch can.
