  1. I think Al already did that. I had heard it was a little too low to be practical. my old truck sat a little higher than I liked, but I never got around to putting my 720 4x4 leafs,& blocks on it. I don't know exactly how low it will eventually be, but i should have some idea once the slot mags are on it. I am currently thinking about how this truck will be used. I want to put good use to that canopy, & also am looking for a tent trailer to tow behind it, when we go camping.
  2. bought this canopy for Sweetpea.
  3. I have a set of the factory Bumperettes, but hadn't gotten around to putting them on, partially because I am considering getting a pop up tent trailer, so I would need the tow hitch my steel bumper had. It's a good thing I didn't have the Bumperettes on at the time of the accident, that heavy full length steel bumper probably saved my life! I haven't quite decided what to do for a bumper on Sweetpea yet. I am looking for a vintage tent trailer, because our club has several campout events. Sweetpea will need to be able to tow a trailer, so I will either be getting another bumper like my old truck, or putting on a reciever hitch, & using my Bumperettes.

  5. No worries! To each thier own. I will probably hang on to the steelies also.
  6. yes. All things considered, & knowing how hard the Impact FELT, I am amazed how well my truck held up. I don't know that I will ever feel quite as safe about another vehicle, as I do about 521's at this point. My Truck took one hell of an Impact at both ends, & I was able to walk away.
  7. I bought a "New" 521, to replace my wrecked truck yesterday.

  8. here's a couple pictures from Silver Falls last year the first picture has the new truck, & Hogie's 521,along with my old one in the background. the 2nd picture is of my old truck at the same event. here's one of Hogie's truck, with both my old one, & the new one on either side of his. here's on of all 3 trucks.
  9. I bought another Dragon green 521 yesterday, to replace my wrecked truck. It's actually in alot better overall condition than my old one was ,& I also bought a disc brake setup, & 2 8.5" wide slot mags to go with it. The new truck is a running, driving truck, so I will just want to change some things, to make it more my style. I also want to get the dogleg 5 speed, that I didn't get the chance to install in my old truck, put in the new one. I am not sure how many parts of my wrecked truck are savable, but the ones that are will most likely find thier way on to the new one. Plan is to build the truck in the style I had always wanted to do my old one, so with a lot more lean towards the Fontana style. The new truck has been known as "Sweetpea " in the Oregon area, & I will keep calling it that. do you guys think I should start a new build thread, or just keep this one going? anyway, here's a couple pictures;

Mark your calendars and get your Datsuns ready! We will be having our 5th annual Wilsonville Sonic meet on Saturday, January 12th, starting at 7pm. This has been a fun event to organize and attend every year & as always I am looking forward to seeing many of our fellow Datsun enthusiasts. as always, this us a Family friendly event, & everyone is welcome! no club affiliation is necessary. I hope you are able to attend!
  11. I was kind of stunned when Steven told me Monday. Over the years I have offered to help out wherever needed. when I heard Steven was stepping down, I offered again. at that time, he thought they had someone. I have attended most ,if not all of the 13 years of the Canby show. my family and I have always looked forward to it, & I will keep some hope that the members of Datsuns NW will regroup at some point and restart the Canby show. until that happens... While no show can really REPLACE the Canby show,(or any of the other, longtime running events) We will be making some changes to the Silver Falls show, in an attempt to fill the void left by the Canby show not happening. We will be making it a weekend, camping available event, in June, with some of the activities we all enjoyed at the Canby show, & some new ones also. I will make an official announcement when we have a few more details nailed down. we should have more information at the Wilsonville Sonic meet on January 12th. I need to make reservations at Silver Falls State Park, & they don't do that until after the first of the year.
  12. New account? I did have alot of difficulty logging in recently & something went wrong yesterday when I tried to log in through the link in my email I have been here on Ratsun for quite awhile, I hope I don't have to start over.

    GOONS check in

been doing a bunch of work on my '70 Goon. It has been sitting for a year or so, due to it needing a bunch of front suspension work, among other things. my 521 had taken all my time and money. I will update my thread on the wagon soon, but here's a picture for now. reassembly is still underway.
  15. Has there been any word about when & where his memorial will be?
  16. Rest in Peace Dave !

You were a Fantastic person with a larger than life personality.   You will be sorely missed!

  17. Dave was a great guy! He had my back a few years ago, when i was going through a very tough time in my life. He always had something supportive to say & it was a big help to me at that time. Dave contacted me once ab a set of wheels. I hated the ones i had on my Goon, & he had a thing for them. He must've already had several sets, but wanted to trade me a set of Iron Cross wheels, just because he knew i didn't like the ones i had. He worked things out, so that someone picked them up at his place,& brought them to me at Blue Lake. I have heard MANY stories of him doing similar things for other people. He was just that kind of guy. I have been looking for a picture of my son with the Birdshit Goon. My kids were super impressed with it. Dave was a Fantastic person, with a larger than life personality. He will be Greatly missed!
  18. I am going to try to make the meeting. I don't currently have a drivable Datsun, so i won't be able to make any passes at PIR.
  19. I will be there, don't know what I will be driving at this point though.

  21. Thank you Ted ! I actually feel like we have settled our differences awhile ago. Even then, I felt like we had an "agree to disagree " thing going. Pretty much feel the same way with Jrock. He sent me a message, making sure I was ok also. That seems to be part of the thing with this community, even people who have disagreements, still care about each other.
  22. So, here's what happened. I was on my way to work. About 8:45 am I was sitting at a stop light, at the end of the offramp from I-5 at Wilsonville rd. I had been waiting a few minutes, & expected the light to change any second. I have a very slight memory of seeing the front of the Jeep & hearing yelling about the same time ar the Impact. Witnesses said they heard her yelling "Oh No!" ,& that she was traveling at around 65mph when she passed them. The Impact pushed me into the Nissan Frontier that was in line in front of me at the light. I was spun sideways, & the front end stopped underneath the gravel truck that had been in the lane next to me. Lucky it wasn't moving at the time! The Impact launched the Jeep, spun it around & she took out a signpost, as she landed. She was obviously in alot of pain, but I didn't see any blood on her, or the driver of the Frontier that I got pushed into. I could tell my tooth was broken right away, other than that adrenaline kicked in pretty fast. Once I saw both other drivers were alive, I turned my attention to what was left of my truck. I feel like a part of me Died with my truck yesterday!
