So after my last post I was visited by the bylaw enforcement officer because of a noise complaint, noise violations are hard to prove without a decibel reading, so he looked around and saw that he could cite me for derelict cars and scrap metal piles. I immediately started pulling all the stuff I had stored in the minivans replacing it with the scrap metal I had piled up to take away which included cutting some larger pieces to make them fit inside. Bylaw enforcement rolled up and said there were grinding and banging noises heard, he saw our look of dismay then looked around as I replied "we were filling the van". After the scrapper took the 2 vans I dragged out the D20 pulled the engine and electrical, then filled the box with anything else I could find to get rid of as well.I put up a 12' x 20' shelter up where the vans had been to store things formerly in the vans or under tarps, using saw horses and planks, I made shelves for the stuff.
All this caused upheaval in the shop as well as in the basement, everywhere I have stuff stored as I went through every thing deciding whether I should keep it or not. I still had the fall yard work to do and my wife finished painting the pergola which I then had to assemble, after redoing the gravel patch and finishing the rock edging, and the time came for moving the rhodo and planting the rose bushes. The planks and other wood pieces were stored on a platform made from pallets and the steel bed from '67 to '72 truck bed which I had decided to chuck, so that left a low spot that I filled with yard waste and covered with mulch to become a beautiful garden bed where we placed potted plants.
With all this stuff on my plate my wife called in two young guys to do the gutter cleaning and one caught a look at the Fourunner and had to check it out. I told him what was wrong with it, he checked out the mileage, asked me what I wanted for it so I told him, he said let me think about it, we went back to look at the gutters and he said I'll take it. The gutters were cleaned out very quickly with the use of a leaf blower and then they were off to the bank to get the money. So at this point I'm down four vehicles, the gardens are ready for winter and I have a shelter for the parts and stuff. The bylaw says I can only have one derelict car so I put insurance on the Corona wagon, my wife found a clause that a project car is not derelict so only the parts 510 is derelict. When I was at work the bylaw officer came by after the allotted time and said to my wife " he's done a lot of work,as of Friday the file is closed". This was a weight off my shoulders but still left the mess in the basement and shop left to be dealt with.
The weather had turned and the 510 was covered up so the stuff I saved for projects was my focus. Mmm, I was going to use this is to make something for my daughter inlaw, so I started working on it for her Christmas present. (pictures have to wait till after Christmas cause) The guest room / office was affected by the upheaval so now we need a bedside table, I dug through the boards in the basement and stuff in the shop and 5 hours later it's in clamps waiting for glue to dry, next weekend after the paint has dried it's in place.
Work got rid of IV poles of unknown brands so I brought them home with thoughts of making a "slapper" for bodywork. I had planned on making two but because it went so smoothly I made a third with a curved face which I formed with a sledge hammer, I only polished them to 400 grit. This is a very condensed version of the last three months but hopefully I can start working on things for the 510 soon and if I'm lucky make space to roll it into the shop to work on.
