Im talking about my ignition voltage regulator the one in my alternator is good i already got the alternator tested

I have an 81 datsun 720 that i recently repaced the alternator on, but it still wont charge my battery, so i went and got an ignition voltage regulator for it but i can't find where it goes, and the guy at my local part store is kinda useless on the subject of these little trucks so i was hoping someone else has had to repace one of these and could point me in the right direction
