All done! Thanks to everybody that gave me advice. Only issue I ran into, was deciding what point to start the measurements at. One of the front side panels has been replaced, so everything is just a tiny bit crooked, so I had to compensate for that. But in the end, after measuring 1000 times, it worked out.

    Hello

Checking if anybody remembers this 510 from early 90s.

Photo was taken at Nissan Headquarters in Torrance Ca.

    Thanks LS_Wagon.

My wagon already had a new headliner and couldn’t find an anchor location by feel. Your pictures allowed me to zone in on the location and I think I’ve found it. Now to make a bold cut in the new headliner!

    Glad I could help!

The biggest joke on Datsuns is a dimmer switch. How could anyone want or need to dim the already dim lights????? I can now read the odometer numbers at night and there was a shadowy area around 1 o'clock on the speedometer that's gone.

Does the dimmer switch work with LEDs? I expect being diodes that they don't dim.

There are some dimmable LEDs but the small ones we have are just off and on.

  6. I found some while LEDs in amazon that are plug and play and love how they look. I can actually see my turn signals in day light now.  No more driving a good distance not knowing my turn signal is on. Car is too loud to hear the clicking of the signal relay.

Here’s the link to the bulbs I’m running. They press right into the original sockets.

  7. Watching a Spanish movie on Netflix and quickly noticed the fender mirrors.  Had to rewind and pause since they only showed it for a few seconds. On close up I noticed the SSS badge! The Wife was like how in the hell did you notice that? 🙂

Last thing - for informational purposes.

The grill (grille) you are after is not a "supersonic" or a "super sports sedan" grill.  Those are both marketing names.  It is the grill used on all 1972 model year bluebirds in Japan.  Although SSS cars in Japan did have this grill in '72, it had a SSS emblem.  GL cars had a GL emblem.  DX cars (and standard?) had the supersonic emblem in the center.

Not trying to derail this thread but can you share what models came with the "Safari" grill?

Impressions on the gaskets? Pretty cool idea really. I worry about how they will hold up in the california sun. Are they UV safe?

I made some straps for masks that sit on your neck instead around the ears from this same material. Almost a year old and no sign of deuteriation yet. They are not in direct sunlight and usually sit on the passenger seat of my car outside. I’m surprised it’s held up as well as it has for this long. Not sure how long they will last in direct sunlight though. I think I’ll set a pair out in the backyard for a while and see how they hold up.

Sorry, I didn't notice the Unavailable tag.

    Datsun-garage is Love20bee?

I didn't know that.  I thought they just had the grills made to raise capital for their custom wheel venture which looks like it takes all their time and workspace.

It still showed in stock when you posted the link. Someone jumped on it.

  11. Hi and Welcome,

No idea. Definitely not a VIN. The VIN Should start with PL510, or WPL510. Is the first number you listed on the firewall? Is it a 2 Door, 4 Door, or Wagon? I have a 69 Wagon.

Did you guys notice the emblem.  It’s for a coupe rear but to me it looks at home. Also I did not paint the bezels inserts but I like the chrome as well. I restored that grill for half what I paid that SSS restorations and way better job.

Yes I did notice the emblem and it looks it was made to be there. The bezels look good like that too! Did you have a Ontario Metal Polishing do the grill? Did you take it apart before hand?

    Luis.
