It was pulled apart when I bought it lol

Nevermind. Forgot, I didn't take this thing apart. Literally going to have to figure out each individual bolt's place LMFAO!!!

So, the number "2" should be level with the valve cover mating surface on the head or at 3 o'clock, basically? Eating lunch, getting as detailed info as I can while I do, and should be a breeze when I get out there.....after 24 hours without sleep already lol.... Hopefully, it'll only take a few hours

Sooo.... Intake cam lobe at 10 and exhaust at 2? Or was it the other way around? Lmao

Cool. Should be digging into this thing in an hour or 2. I'll buy a pack of shop rags so I can take plenty pics lol. Any requests?

Okay, fellers... Headed to the parts store. What kind of oil, filter, and spark plugs do these things like?

My block obviously has the boss for it. For some reason it has a brass plug (I assume brass lol), rather than the aforementioned jet...

Yeah, I just found this. I'll watch closely while reassembling to see if I can discern exactly where the "thrower" is fed oil from. Keep in mind guys, the person I bought the truck from has had it sitting in it's current state for about a year. Said he had already put a new chain on it, so it probably hasn't had any oil to it yet. Likely the reason for it's dry/rusted appearance...

I'll check it tomorrow when I have some daylight. As far as the oiler, I'm going to have to do some research. Logic would dictate there must be some pre-existing method to keep the chain oiled that clogged or something. 161k miles without any lubrication to that chain would surely have ended in catastrophe multiple times by now. I would imagine that worn guide and over extended tensioner are due to a relatively recent lack of.... Thoughts?

    The oiler is pressed in?

If it's pressed in, I would have to thread the hole to install an oil jet. Then, it creates a whole new mess. Regardless, I haven't checked the casting numbers, but the vast majority of everything looks untouched and the plate says it is a Z22...

Looks like a plug almost... No easy way to remove it, though. Could drill a pilot and try to pull it, but not sure if I have an easy-out that small. Hate those tiny ones. Break so easily lol

Picking up the timing set ( cam/crank sprockets, both guides, chain, and tensioner), timing cover gasket (comes with the water pump, oil pump, and thermostat gaskets he said), front main seal, oil/coolant, filter, and battery in the morning. Valve cover gasket comes in on Monday morning. Should cover the current issue. One of the reasons he said he started this little project is the starter was turning over slow, even though it was brand new. May run fresh wire and connections next
