    Wiper Washer Motor Repair

@cobra269 Thanks for this tutorial! I pulled and opened mine up as described, cleaned up all the internals, re-lubed the motor shaft to copper bushing joints and it is now working great. Not bad for a 42 year old motor  @Cardinal Grammeter Do you mean the seal at the bottom of the pump (part you unscrew to access motor)? that is where mine was leaking. If so, I made my own out of neatly cut bicycle inner tube. Hope that helps.

Thanks, yes, I have read many posts about people hating on Bill's Datsun Shop. Still, restating the loathing does not answer my question. Nearly all responses to my questions have provided no answers. What's the deal? I know there are people on this forum in my area who are capable. Where ya at? Can anybody recommend where to take the engine for rebuild? Simple question  Anybody on here a mechanic who works on other's vehicles? Cash $$$ in hand for willing mechanical servant. Muahahahaha. Come on, I seriously need help here. Thank you.

I have read many of the rebuild threads. Seems like most do miss with flat top Pistons to get more power. That's not what I want. Stock specs are good for me. If anything, I'd like to get more economy without losing power it that is at all possible. What do you guys suggest?

@dislexicdime I am not sure what you are specifically referring to in your last comment. Figure what out?

@KoHeartsGPA No worries, man. Hopefully I can make it out to the next event! Lucky you had a father to learn from. It would be great if I could say the same about mine, haha. @dislexicdime Thanks! Perhaps we can link soon.

Hi y'all. SO I got the car back from Nelson. Braking better now. Running better as well. Though, he checked compression and found the readings of #1 & #2 cylinders to be low (mid or upper 90's). He said it won't be able to pass DEQ because of this and couldn't tune it out when he had it hooked up to his gas analyzer. SO..... I guess it is time to get the spare L20 I have rebuilt. Any recommendations for local rebuild shop?? I called Portland Engine Rebuilders and they quoted $1295. Does this sound reasonable? Also, I will just put this out there...anybody on here interested in walking me through a rebuild? Happy to compensate for time. Let me know. Also, I got most of the body damage straightened out and got the good fender and lights bolted on. Looking pretty straight now! I can post photos soon. @bonzai510 I plan on going through everything on this vehicle. If I get the rebuilt motor in there and take care of whatever else is needed, are you saying you still wouldn't use it as a daily? That goes against nearly everything I've heard about vehicles with L-series motors. That being said, eventually I would like to have this truck as a work truck and get something compact and very economical to use as the daily. Let me know your two-cents. Also, I am in Portland in SE near Hawthorne where are you?

@Laecaon Thanks for your reply. Nelson at Altered Motives has the truck while he is doing the brakes. Next weekend may be doable for me, will have to see if I get the truck back by then. I may already be heading out to Hillsboro then to have somebody take a look at the body work.

@KoHeartsGPA That's a peculiar speculation to make. Without having a vehicle, what would I have done, walked 30 miles out there? I started this thread with one intention; to find help with getting this thing running and hopefully gaining some useful knowledge about this vehicle as I am serious about keeping it on the road. Because I think these trucks are awesome. Isn't that the point of this forum, to help each other in the effort of keeping these vehicles alive??? Back to my original questions.... Is there anybody in the Portland area? Anybody looking for work? Anybody that can refer a mechanic or body shop?? Anybody willing to come take a look at this thing and drop some knowledge?

@dislexicdime It is points. Nelson said they need adjustment. Do you know how to do them? I had never heard of points before this thread. Would love to learn how to do this myself.

To anybody that is interested, I fooled with the carb adjustments and was able to get it running again and was able to take it to Nelson @Altered Motives in Tualatin. He found that the vacuum lines were routed wrong and has told me he corrected that. Awesome. I am going to have him do the brakes and possibly some front end work since all the rubber is gone. I have a spare L20 that I am contemplating having rebuilt. Anybody interested? Recommend somebody local? I am still hoping to meet people locally here in Portland. Where y'all at?!

Is anybody interested in simply coming to take a look at this thing over the weekend? That is really what I am looking for, somebody to school me on this vehicle. I am completely lost and I need to get this vehicle running ASAP. I would be honored if somebody could help me here.
