For the greater good comes down more to the individual choosing to do so. An ethical decision made by people not a governing agency that is incapable of ethical decisions. For example a government that allows smoking and collects tax revenue from it even though it kills the smoker after a shortened life time of tax paying for an addiction. An ethical person, for the greater good of everyone, will stop smoking thus improving his life and depriving the tobacco industry of income. The greater good can't be easily or impartially legislated, it's again, up to the individual to choose.

    That is the thing.

Some people are only thinking about themselves, and unable to do what is best for the good of all people.

Selfish people who only care about themselves. Their self centered singleminded perspective prevents them from choosing a path that will be for the good of everyone.

Well under that logic you realize the next step is the Government saying: "Well you must donate blood" it is for the good of everyone, Or you must donate your organs when you die, it is for the good of everyone, or you must not eat meat, or own too much stuff, or live on land by yourself. etc...

Some of the worst atrocities in history have been a Government trying to do something for the "good of everyone".

This country (USA) is based on INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS not COLLECTIVISM. The point of a Constitutional Republic is to protect the rights of the minority from the majority and there is no smaller minority than the individual.

Did you know for a medical trial you can't even give a person more than a small gift card because it would be considered unethical coercion in making them make a choice about a medical decision? But you can threaten to take away their livelihood, threaten to remove them from polite society, and in other countries (Germany) prevent them from even entering grocery stores, to get a medical procedure and that is "not coercion". BULLSHIT that is the very definition of Coercion.

By your extremely simplistic and pedantic logic if I put a gun to your head and say "do this" you still made the choice. Threatening excessive punishment to achieve compliance but claiming you gave them "a choice" is not something the GOOD GUYS DO, that is what petty tyrants do.

Even under the law "duress" is recognized as not allowing for a choice to be made.

Stop trying to rationalize your willingness to allow for petty tyrants to control other people just because you happen to agree with them.

Edmond Burk. (one of my favorites)

Interestingly that quote is attributed to Burke but it is up to debate if he ever actually said it. Still doesn't deter from how true it is though.

I always felt it was a paraphrasing of Ephesians 5:7

Those who do nothing about sin and evil, help the sin and evil to prevail. One who is silent when there are those around him in sin becomes a partaker with them.

GOD DAMN you are going to drive yourself crazy about this. If you want to get vaccinated so be it, if not fine. I don't give a fuck about Joe Biden's opinion. I don't give a fuck about Donald Trumps opinion or Hillary Clinton's opinion either. I'm a free thinker. CNN or FOX doesn't influence what I do with my life. Ease up and enjoy life man.

I'm already crazy. I give a fuck because I'm being fired for not taking this shot. As you can imagine this pisses me off something fierce, my fucking employer does not own MY BODY.

Forcing medical procedures on healthy people to keep their job is fucking immoral as all shit, especially when it has a chance of DEATH.

So yeah, I get fucking pissy when the fucking assholes in power consider me a fucking slave that they can order to me to put something into my body or get fired, that I don't want, I find ethically fucked, and that violates my religious beliefs.

IT IS WRONG AND IT IS EVIL. And all that it takes for EVIL to succeed is for GOOD men to do nothing.

I got the vax for my piece of mind not my employer, currently unemployed. I make my choices for me, sometimes others can influence me. This rarely happens though. As far as work goes they have company policies, hearing protection required and such. Funny thing is a few guys were spouting off about freedom of speech and perched on their soap box. Well they got their asses handed to them. I do hope the anti vax fuckers get fired. The 3 of them in my job code are worthless fuckers so good by losers.

You have every right to get it if you think it is the right choice for YOU. Having that decision taken away from you by mandate or risk of losing your job is what is NOT right.

Also, last I checked you can take hearing protection off when you get home. It is not a PERMANENT MODIFICATION to your body demanded by your employer.

Most employers have no loyalty to their employees but think it is perfectly acceptable to force them to undergo a medical procedure that has a RISK OF DEATH.

Let's all crunch the numbers now. We will use CDC accepted numbers even if they are likely bullshit or under reported.

    # of vaxxed Americans= 209,701,005

    # of vax deaths reported (VAERS) what CDC uses= 16,310

    # of vax permanent disabilities (VAERS)= 23,712

    # of vax life threatening events = 17,618

    # of vax hospitilizations = 75,605

So we can then divide the adverse event/number of total vaxxed Americans and get your chance of something bad happening.

Chance of death 16,310/209,701,005 = 1 in 12857. So if you mandate the vax for a company of 13,000 people you will kill 1 with the mandate.

Chance of permanent disability 23713/209,701,005 =1 in 8843. So for that same company of 13,000 people you have now maimed at least 1 and almost 2 people.

Chance of life threatening event= 17618/209,701,005 =1 in 11902. Another person has had a life threatening event, or could be the same person.

Chance of them being hospitalized= 75605/209,701,005= 1 in 2773. So 4.6 or call it 4 to 5 people you've sent to the hospital.

The overall death rate from COVID is 185 per 100,000 people, so scaling to 13,000 people it is 24 people from 13,000.

So for the vaccine mandate you need to kill 1 person for every 24 you could potentially save and let me remind you the vaccine does not prevent 1. death from covid, 2. catching covid, spreading covid.

BIDEN'S vax mandate through OHSA is expected to force 80,000,000 people to get the vax. It will statistically kill 6,222 people who would otherwise not die. HIS ACTIONS WILL KILL 6000 people. That is literally twice what died on 911 and we went to war over that.

NOTE: WE know these numbers of adverse events are highly under reported by likely a factor higher than 10.

If you give people a choice and tell them the risks that is fine but as soon as you force it you are responsible for killing or hurting those people.

If this is what it takes for me to get back to work so be it. You are referring to the big flying tube company right?

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

Are you ok with selling your body to your employer? Do you think complying will make this end? It only makes this worse.

If you are forced to undergo a medical procedure you don't want by your employer to work you are nothing but a slave.

Yep, to each their own. To be fair though I do have a G17 but I converted it to 22TCM9R a while back. I'll take a Beretta 92FS any day personally.

Brakes will cause the wheels on the front and the wheels and axle on the rear to try to move the opposite direction you are going.

Clunk from the front??? Could be worn tension rod bushings. But I would imagine it would do it all the time.

Clunk on the rear? My 620 frame rotted out of sight and the leaf spring mount separated and would clunk, but again it was continuous.

Probably the sliding brake adjusters in the backing plates. They self adjust and center themselves once the brakes are tight against the rims, but once centered, they should stay there and move only as the shoes wear down. If the brakes are not adjusted snug enough this might be the cause. A broken return spring? I would look at all of them and see about a little brake grease on the rubbing points the metal parts of the shoes make with the backing plate. Maybe a shoe is hanging up when the pedal is released.

There is a good chance the 521 used leading and trailing shoes. This is characterized by the lining on one shoe being closer to the wheel cylinder and the other closer to the adjuster on the bottom. If not careful it's possible to have two leading shoes on one side and two trailing on the other or simply a trailing shoe in the leading shoe position. Not all shoes are this way but the intent is that the forward motion adds a significant amount of extra friction to the shoe moving in the direction of travel. If you stop better backing up chances are they are reversed. Like I say the 521 may have come with leading and trailing or they may have been replaced with evenly lined shoes.

Old Doges were notorious for grabby brakes in the morning the first time you used them when it was damp. Always good to drag the brakes for half a block to warm them. This was my '64 and probably asbestos linings back then.

Wait a minute are you cluttering up our covid shitfest thread with car talk?

A vaccine not even made yet?

This type of vaccine has been proposed and studied for many many years. Hell, in 2006 they had an experimental version based on the same concept for SARS which fizzled out due to lack of interest [edit: several groups were proposing a vaccine of this and a related nature at the same time, hot topic lots of interest]. My wife is literally one of the people on the paper for it in fact (she got her PhD studying SARS).

Most of these whinings can be easily explained away. Something new or novel comes along. Not much is known about this thing so experts are tasked with providing a 'best guess' as what to expect and what to do based on limited past experiences. There is bound to be errors in addition to blunders when dealing with something 'novel, many unknowns and making best guesses'. As time goes on and more is learned, the guess work is better refined and evolved and procedures are changed.

Sure we expect better of those in charge but we should also give them a fucking break for my above reasons. Most of those reasons in that list are are a poor excuse for not getting a vaccination. What did Carlin say about stupidity??? "Imagine how stupid that average person is.... then realize that half the population is stupider than that" A good chunk of the 'stupid people' will read and agree with that list and perpetuate it.

I'm sorry but bullshit. We know from the Fauci emails they were talking about what they admit publicly now in early 2020, but at that time if you said that you would be banned. Nothing about Covid is all that new, they've known about masks and what would happen with the vaccine for years.

Worth reading the first half or so, probably a bit too speculative out there when it veers off from data and  gets into "graphene oxide". (I'd ignore the whole last paragraph before the conclusion as it is not as supported as the earlier paragraphs, which detracts from the whole letter sadly). Also, a bit disturbing in that it outlines a few things I purposely DID not mention here about its possible creation i.e, basically when I asked myself how if I was Evil would I create this I get the same method the author talks about here, something I have NOT seen talked about anywhere else by anyone.

How about simply pointing out where and how the report is wrong? No need for all the smoke & mirrors.

Do you see the inherent lie? The MSM goes: the COUNT shows Biden won... but it wasn't a recount it was an audit to check if the ballots themselves were valid in the first place. Which we can now see 17,000 of them were duplicates and therefore invalid and the signature verification of those after election night had 95% that were ineligible compared to 5% before election night.

    Let's try an example:

A kid asks his Father for $15.

The Father gives the kid a $10, two $1s and a $3 dollar novelty bill.

Kid: "Why did you only give me $12?"

Father:" Count it again, it is $15"

Kid: "yeah, but it is $12 dollars and a fake $3 bill"

Father: "that's not counting that is auditing"

Same. I'm still ahead overall of course by a lot, but still sucks when you realize the difference form time to time is a lot of "potential" money.

Long term though I'm figuring if it keeps even close to any past actions I don't need to work anymore 5 years from now.
