    Help removing front differential

So I'm replacing the oil pan in my 84 720 4x4 and I'm trying to remove the front differential. I have a haynes manual which makes this all sound super easy. I have the three mounting bolts to the differential out and the front cross member out as well. The cv axles are unbolted from the differential, but won't budge/separate from the differential. The questions are: 1) Am I going to have to take out the whole CV axle 2)Am I going to have to unbolt the torsion bars so the differential can drop? They seem to be in the way.... The truck has a 3" suspension lift and ball joint spacers. Don't know if that's going to hurt me by putting more pressure on the CV axles..

    New To the 720 crowd..

Yeah, it does. From your pics on pg. 15 they still stick out from the towers a few inches so hopefully mine will be just long enough. Good looking 720. I like the BRE scheme or the green over black.

What size cross bars are you using? I just got in some 48" ones but I'm afraid they're going to be too short. I'm guessing you have the 58"?
  6. I have a 84 720 with a bad transfer case. What year trucks could I swap the transfer case from? I know I'd need something newer than an 82. Thanks.

Bought a 720 a couple of months ago

Guy had gave it to his nephew who must have hit some trees. The ad said it needed a new radiator. Got it for $900 replaced alot of other motor parts. Still have problems with the transfer case not holding oil and whining pretty bad. Someone stripped the fill plug and I had to drill a holl in it and seal it when it left me stranded at a job site. The hood was silver... I had to cut it to make room for a filter.... hence the hood scoop in later pictures. This also shows how bent the bumber was before It got beat semi-back into shape and painted. Pretty much the earliest picture I have of it other than the above one. It's had the hood and bumper painted and hood scoop put on. The wheels were pretty nasty and the rust on the bed was pretty bad. I cut out as much of it as I could and bondoed the holes. Painted the Wheels Fog lights and tool box New turn lamp and rolled on bediliner on the truck. More of the bedliner on the bottom half. ....and a quick pic of my G20t. I have new corner lights ordered and coming in soon. One day I'll get a lift from 4x4 parts and bigger tires along with a new transfer case.
