Awesome build thread so far! That is so f'n inspiring. Makes me wanna go out in the garage and just tear shit up. But you and I know that the process is slow and steady. We're about in the same phase of our projects. Can't wait to see this progress further and further.

Yes of course thats just a mockup and our shear leaves a nasty burr, like a razor I can even round the corners and roll up a hem around that radius. What do you think about dzeus fasteners for easy removal? Im probably overthinking it. I totally appreciate your input!

At first I wanted to just wanted to replace the dash pad W/ a nice piece of aluminum for the face, and like a dummy I spent an hour scraping off all the foam and adhesive, not realizing that those are hard to come by. The ones you can get online are caps only and cover the foam piece... so I F'd up. I think it would have looked pretty sweet, but hey I have access to sheet metal breaks and rollers so WTF. Not as simple as I would have wanted but this is what its all about right? The learning process.

I should have included this upstream so you could see the progression and what I meant about the original dash

Hey all, Here are some pics of my mocked up dash. Just have to figure out how to mount it. I was originally going to use the stock dash w/o the foam pad but realized that it had a crown to it and would be high in the middle. I'll just have to adapt a piece that to replace it but still work with the original mounting points. Also the notch for the steering wheel will go away and that bottom line will just follow through at that height.

Taking stuff apart labeling and taking a lot of pictures. Mostly of wiring. Nothing worth posting but that's where I am. Looking at building myself a custom dash using stock dash pad supplemented by some aluminum sheet metal. There are a lot of great examples on the web that I think I can take ideas from. Stay tuned
