    Wrecking Yard Report

yeah, it was mostly there. I think it was also missing a cyl. head. it still had its automatic trans. and I think most of its interior. But honestly it one of the uglier* 210s with the liftback, so I wasn't that impressed. *This is coming from someone that likes traditionally "ugly" cars.

    Wrecking Yard Report

I went to the Pick a Part in Monrovia, CA today. They had a '71 521 that still had quite a few parts. All doors, fenders, engine (minus the cylinder head), trans were there. It was basically just missing the head, hood, steering wheel, all the small bits.

Geez, you guys wrap up early. I got there at noon and there were only a handful of vendors left. I still got some necessary parts for a decent price. Just next time I'll be sure to be there early. Thanks to the organizers, looking forward to the next one!

Rear diff and manual trans fluid

Thanks for the info, that was just what i was looking for. I played it safe and got some GL-5 for the dif, but I'll get some gl-4 tomorrow. When I drained the differential the oil was dark but still translucient, not black or very thick. amd there wasn't very much metal stuck to the magnet on the plug. I'm taking this as a sign that this little gal is a pretty tough broad.

Rear diff and manual trans fluid

*Bumping this thread back from the dead.* Having the itch to work on the car today I thought, why not change the trans and differential fluids. As far as I know, they haven't been replaced in the last 15 years(i just inherited the car). So i went through the threads on here and the 510 Realm, and followed the vaious links. I read about the possibility of damage resulting from using GL-5 in the transmission, so I was sure to take notes before I headed to O'reily, (the local independent store was closed) When I got there everything was GL-5, except for 140w GL-4 and a O'reily store brand 75/90 GL-5 that said it was safe for GL-2,3,4 and MT-1 . So my question is, can an oil really be that backwards compatible, while not harmful to older components? I am ususually trusting of store brands, but still they aren't the ones that will have to rebuild the whole thing if it blows up. Thanks, Michael

In the ads for the new season of Tyler Perry's house of Pain, there is a Orange 510 used for screen swipes.

    what a crazy snow day

As I life long californian my mind was blown when I visited Seattle last April and it snowed. I was in pure disbelief. It was something I had only een on tv.
  9. In Arab culture, throwing shoes is a grave show of disrespect. “This is the farewell kiss, you dog,” the man shouted in Arabic. After U.S. troops pulled down a statue of former dictator Saddam Hussein in 2003, Iraqi bystanders tossed shoes at it, according to news reports at the time.

I haven't seen that one. A couple weeks ago I saw TWO 510s in an shop on north lake ave in altadena.

so i was banned from a car dealership

Sucks you only got a couple blocks. Any car that has a full cage is a serious build, they should expect people to drive it like that on a test drive. Salesman FAIL

    someone slap me......

Why are people raggin' on the shape? You drive/fix datsuns which are some incredibly square cars! Scion is gay? Give it to me! I'll take the happiest car I can get ;) The scion is in the top ten of cars judged for their carbon footprint. It is on of the few wagons you can get right now. I like the first gen xb mor than the new bigger one. When my dad was looking for a car I thought he should get on, or the mazda 5 wagon. Nissan needs to start making a wagon! :)
