  1. I guess we’ll never know if the 71C input shaft/gear will work lol
  2. It was free. I’m going to try and make it work with the 71C parts. Not trying to rebuild it for any economical reason. Just enjoy the challenge of learning and making stuff work. I’ll post updates for future reference.
  3. Right, I took it apart and what’s pictured is the only damage that I found other than the failed front countershaft bearing. My question was, would a “C” type input shaft and countershaft gear work with my “B” type transmission.
  4. This is a used trans I picked up for my 620, haven’t ran it yet
  5. Hey guys, I've got a FS5W71B that had the front counter shaft bearing failure. Bearing cage took out some teeth on my 4th gear and input shaft. Can't find a new set anywhere, but I can find new FS5W71C Input shaft/4th gear sets. I understand the gears are wider, but by how much? Will the FS5W71C Input shaft and 4th gear work with my "B" transmission?

  13. It happened because when we bought it the guy wanted to keep his american racing wheels, so he threw the stock ones on real quick and didn't tighten them all the way

  16. A bit of a story to get to where the project is now. So for Christmas my mom bought my dad a 1973 Datsun 240z as a car project. We had just finished building my 1973 Chevelle and he really wanted to build a car. She sent one of my dad's friends to San Francisco to pick it up about a week or two before Christmas. The guy he got it from wanted to keep his American Racing wheels so he swapped them out before my dad's friend left with the car. Turns out the car wouldn't make it out of san francisco (turns out to be a bad voltage regulator) so it's towed. Once it's in Oakley, it goes to
