  1. Noooooo, don't cover the decal. Chickenhawk, Firehawk, Firebird, TransAm, it all fits together.

  3. Wilwood calipers are "universal", as in they have 4 bleeders, two up two down. That way you can use them on either side, and in almost any orientation. 👌

  5. I don't know much about these systems but have had a short in a distributor cap, it was just a tiny carbon track between the plug contact and the base. It caused a slight miss in the beginning, then tracks spidered off to other plug contacts making it misfire like crazy. It's the only thing I can think of.

  6. Worried that the rats may have made a nest inside the air intake for the heater I took the parcel shelf out from beneath the glove box, removed the air intake elbow, then took a picture with my phone, (cause my heads to big) and to my relief no nest, but whats the grey splotch. A little snooping and I realized that it was a filter element, pulled it out and the rats had removed the filter fabric from three of the four portions. Mike said to just remove the condenser since none of the rest of the A/C system is left. The grill came off next to allow the removal of the front fender for the first time ever and I noticed something blue, the handle to a nut driver. "Hey Mike, I found where your lost nut driver went!". Some of the fender bolts were pretty tight, only broke 2, then wrangled the fender off, I'm going to have to remove the bumper to put the replacement one on. After getting tired of chasing the rat chewed wiring, I looked for something that would be easy like maybe covering some of the primer bits with yellow spray paint, but I found more rust. My biggest concern is whether I can remove the glass without destroying the 50 year old rubber. The adventure will continue next weekend.

  7. I thought about drop spindles, but since I was originally planning to run 15" wheels, I thought lowering springs would be better. Kinda wish I had done the spindles and used stock disc brakes. Because... Owner noticed the brake pedal getting really spongy, and asked if I could take a look at it for him. Jacked it up to inspect the brakes, since the front reservior was half empty, and noticed a bit of fluid running down the caliper and collecting on the lower bolt... It was the elbow adapter to make the 3AN lines hook up to the Wilwood caliper. I tightened it half a turn, bled both front calipers again, and that seems to have fixed it so far... While we had it up in the air, we did another thing that we've wanted to do ever since we finished the interior, and that is get a fully loaded weight for it! 927 RF 919 LF 834 RR 818 LR We previosuly swapped the rear springs from 225lb to 300lb, but it was still waaaaay too soft, so we thought step one was to get the corner weights. After crunching some numbers and consulting a few people I know who are good at this sort of thing, looks like we need springs closer to 450 (or even 500 🫢), due to the curb weight, and the fact that the front springs are around 450lb wheel rate (which feels perfect). Based on those readings we are sitting at 3,498, which isn't too shabby since the stock weight is around 3,750. 👌

  8. Some of the work is on hold while I wait to resupply the waterproof connectors I need, so I'm wasting time working on the front spoiler. I had already recurved the R side end and had mounted it up while I worked on the L half. I thought "hey why not use a laser and mark up the exact center from behind?" which I proceeded to set up. With the project sitting on jack stands it really doesn't give me much room to work on things underneath, so a few choice curses were thrown at my creeper, trouble light, and anything else that I could throw... Eventually I had dropped a couple of plumb bobs off the center frame bits, and queued up the laser to catch both the rearward and forward lines, so figured all is good. Marked off the R side spoiler before dropping it off to work on the L side. The L side end curve worked out better than the R did (practice makes perfect you know) and proceeded to mount that one up and mark the center line on it. Crunch time now, had to hold my breath and make the cuts. After remounting the 2 sections, I can say that the workmanship is maybe slightly better than mediocre, the fit at the bottom is good but somehow the top has a gap. Good thing I have the factory center section which has the correct bend, but now I'll have 2 joints to deal with instead of just one. Oh well, good enough. Nicely hides the bar ends though. Will be taking a break from the project for a bit, wife will be retiring soon so we're going to do a vacation while she has time to burn up.

  11. I picked up the driveshaft yesterday... crawled under the car and installed it today. You've all seen an installed driveshaft before (and I forgot to take a picture) so use your imagination. Then we took a trunk lid with a Hugh Jass dent in the middle of it... marked some spots... asked each other, "Are you sure?"... confirmed that each one of us was, in fact, sure... THEN, after the holes were drilled, we broke off half of the hinge bolts and had to start over with the car's original lid. Thus producing... I am 99.28734165% sure it is centered and that is a camera artifact. We'll fill in the gaps and glass it all in proper later. It's a shame the Rhino-Liner is going to cover that bitchin' Trans Am decal.

  13. Yep that’s right. I’m going to bring it back with a different format. Cars and coffee style without the coffee. No awards. No raffle. Just cars, people and good conversations. Figure this is a way to continue the show without the financial burden it had become.
